Robert L. "Bob" Bader, 78, died Jan. 4 in his home at Great Bend. He was born June 7, 1932, in Osborne County, the son of Fredrick Robert and Addie Mae (Clemans) Bader. He married Joan Habiger Sept. 1, 1955, at Hoisington. He was a commercial salesman for Becker Tire and Treading, Great Bend, for 50 years. He was a Great Bend resident since 1959, coming from Osborne.

TIMKEN - Maye Pechanec, 87, died Jan. 3 at Rush County Nursing Home in La Crosse. Born Oct. 10. 1923, she was the daughter of Mart and Jennie (Watkins) West. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a 1941 graduate of Alexander High School. On Aug. 8, 1944, she married Edward F. Pechanec at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. He died Dec. 3, 2005. She was a homemaker.

Clifford M. Bellinger, 84, of Great Bend, died Dec. 30 at Cherry Village in Great Bend. Born Aug. 6, 1926 in Fort Scott, he was the son of John Semple and Bonnie Gretchen McCargar Bellinger. He married Sallly Fox in 1955 in Wichita. She died in 1972. A resident of Barton and Rush counties for 21 years, residing in Great Bend, Otis and Denver, Colo., he was a retired engineering draftsman after working 35 years with Boeing.

HOISINGTON - Clarence A. Redetzke, 80, died Jan. 3 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born April 24, 1930, at Hoisington, the son of Leo C. and Cecelia C. (Schauf) Redetzke. He married Martha A. Hawes Nov. 3, 1951, at Fort Smith, Ark. She died Oct. 22, 2010. A lifetime Susank/Hoisington resident, he was a retired farmer/rancher.

She married Daniel Murray on Jan. 9, 1976, in Great Bend. A life-long resident of Great Bend, she worked as a secretary for Western & Southern Life Ins. Co. for a number of years.

FLORISSANT, Colo. - James E. "Jim" Johnson, 60, died Jan. 2 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born June 6, 1950, at Alva, Okla., the son of Harold E. and Elaine (Lane) Johnson. A Florissant, Colo., resident for 30 years, coming from Cave Junction, Ore., he owned a Jim Johnson's Services.

LARNED - Charles L. Pfenninger, 93, died Dec. 31, 2010 at Larned Healthcare Center. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, near Rozel, the son of Louis J. and Ora Grace Renfro Pfenninger. On March 1, 1941, he married Della G. Eilts at Yuma, Ariz. She died Jan. 26, 2003. A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he retired from Roth Equipment Company as vice president and was a farm machinery salesman for 40 years.

Edwin O. Hiss, 79, of Great Bend, died Dec. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Fred Henry and Mary Bertha (Janne) Hiss. He married Violet Krentzel on April 29, 1967, at Great Bend. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer and stockman.

Ralph Marion Winkelman 1919-2013
ROCKPORT, Texas - Ralph Marion Winkelman, 94, died on May 9. He was born on Feb. 27, 1919. In 1938, he graduated from Chase High School. He entered the United States Army during World War II and served with the 13th Airborne Division in France, Belgium, Ireland and Scotland. After the war he worked for Kaw Pipeline in Kansas and in 1963, transferred to Houston and worked for the pipeline division of Texaco.
