GREELEY, Colo. - Mary Anne Durler was born in Leavenworth on April 27, 1921, the daughter of John Jacob Durler, Sr. and Marguerite Cecelia Reynolds. She graduated from The Dominican (St. Rose) School of Nursing in Great Bend in 1944 and on May 11, 1944 enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corps, receiving her basic training at Colorado Springs.
SALINA - Mrs. Jo Lyn Bartz, 51, of Salina passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Via Christi- St. Francis in Wichita.

ENTERPRISE - Robert Leroy Reynolds, 47, of Enterprise, formerly of Great Bend, died Sept. 19, 2011, at Memorial Health Systems in Abilene.
GREAT BEND - Ryan Joseph Bealer, 21, died Sept. 20, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, Topeka.
ELLINWOOD - Harold Edward Boepple, 70 died Sept. 19 at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. He was born Oct. 29, 1940 in Great Bend, the son of Ed and Dorothy Roelse Boepple. A lifetime Ellinwood resident, he was an oilfield worker at Weatherford Services, retiring in 1998. He graduated in 1959 from Ellinwood High School. He was also co-owner of G&H Insurance in Great Bend.
Gladys M. Bloodworth, 92, died Sept. 19 at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born June 18, 1919 in Carmi, Ill., she was the daughter of Daniel and Minnie A. (Argo) Hucker. On March 28, 1937, she married Orval R. Bloodworth in Carmi, Ill. He died on July 27, 1978. A resident of Great Bend since 1952, she was a seamstress at Marlett Homes, retiring in 1980.
CLAFLIN - Albert H. Soeken, 96, died Sept. 17 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Dec. 19, 1914 in Barton County, he was the son of Henry and Anna (Lubinus) Soeken. On May 7, 1941, he married Viola Knop in Ellinwood. She died in September, 1999. A lifetime resident of Claflin, he was a farmer. He was a Dekalb seed dealer.
ESTES PARK, Colo. - A graveside service will be held for former resident Jerri Robinson who died on May 20 in Estes Park, Colo. The service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Great Bend. In the event of inclement weather, the service will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Estes Valley in care of the funeral home.
DIGHTON - Beverly Ann Moomaw, 73, died Sept. 16 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis campus in Wichita. Born Jan. 1, 1938 in Meade, she was the daughter of Berend H. and Hazel Ruby (Hill) Cordes. In 1956, she graduated from Meade High School and attended Emporia State University for one year. HOISINGTON - Kirby Dean Ricke, 61, died Oct. 11, at Almost Home in Great Bend. Born July 2, 1953, in Alva, Okla., he was the son of Theodore Dean and Darlene (Huffman) Ricke. Kirby graduated in 1971 from Hoisington High School. He was active in both vocal music and band programs, excelling at the trumpet. Nadine Dreiling, 81, died October 10, 2014, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born June 25, 1933, in Neck City, Mo., the daughter of George and Vera Sargent Moore. A resident of Great Bend since 1954, moving from Chase, she and her husband owned and operated Don's Food Mart, and she retired from Dillons Pharmacy.
HOISINGTON - Lila Jean Haberman, 80, died Oct. 11 at her daughter's home in Olmitz. She was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Galatia, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Steinert) Wagner. She married Jim Stoss on July 30, 1952. He died Dec. 25, 1979. She then married Larry Haberman on March 30, 1991. He died Dec. 8, 2006. Lila Jean was a resident of Hoisington, coming from Olmitz. Paul E. Dyer, 84, died Oct. 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Homer and Katherine (Jones) Dyer. On Jan. 4, 1954, he married Julitta M. Elsen, in Great Bend. She died on March 12, 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.
CIMARRON - Johnna Franks, 65, died Oct. 8, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. Born Nov. 1, 1948, in Independence, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Norma (Marlett) Carroll. She graduated high school in Fredonia. She was a convenience store manager for 30 years. On June 28, 1970, she married Larry Franks in Fredonia. She and Larry moved to Cimarron from Great Bend, and spent the last three years RVing full time. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards.
LA CROSSE - Viola Mae Yost, 99, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Oct. 7, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born Viola Mae Wimmer on July 25, 1915, in Harlan, she was the daughter of Harvey Lester and Mary Ann Zion Wimmer. She graduated from Portis High School, attended college at York College for two years, then finished her teaching education at Fort Hays State University.
