MOUNDRIDGE – Donna Lee Rush, 82, passed away Jan. 24, 2016, at Pine Village, Moundridge. She was born Feb. 23, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil and Dorothy (Foster) Bell. On Aug. 30, 1952, Donna married Glen E. Rush in Wichita. He passed away March 3, 1997. Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church, Moundridge, as well as a member of United Methodist Women. Osythe M. Wallert, 91, died Jan. 23, 2016, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Born Nov. 20, 1924, she was the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Viglini) Kuck. On Dec. 19, 1943, she married Leonard Wallert in Russell. He died on Jan. 30, 2003. She grew up in Wilson, and was a graduate of Wilson High School. DODGE CITY - Lori Marie Truitt, 40, passed away Jan. 19, 2016, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was born on Aug. 24, 1975, in Dodge City, the daughter of Glenn and Charlynn (Brazda) Truitt.
ODIN - Norbert J. "Bones" Prosser, 85, died Jan. 18, 2016, at Via Christi Village - Hays, in Hays. Born Feb. 10, 1930, in Beaver, he was the son of Joseph and Ella (Ficker) Prosser. On Sept. 8, 1955, he married Frances Werner in Odin. A lifetime resident of Odin, he was a farmer and rancher. His past careers include welding, tank truck service, oilfield driller and dirt construction. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and collector of priceless memorabilia. He took great pride in founding the Prosser Arena and had a passion for planting shelter belts.
LA CROSSE - Felicita M. "Fritzie" Weichen, 102, died Jan. 18, 2016, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born Aug. 23, 1913, in Fairview Township, Rush County, she was the daughter of Alex and Mary (Werth) Munsch. On Dec. 25, 1935, she married Norval "Nib" Weichen at Bison. He preceded her in death May 25, 1960. A resident of Rush County for 84 years, moving from Schoenchen, she was a homemaker.
ELLSWORTH - Bonnie Elaine Fuller, 81, died Jan. 16, 2016, at Good Samaritan Village, Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 13, 1934, in rural Geneseo, Galt Township, the daughter of Richard and Velma Orm Crane. She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1951. She married Clarence H. Fuller on Feb. 7, 1959, at Wichita. He died Sept. 26, 1997. She was a school bus driver for Circle USD 375, retiring after 25 years. A longtime resident of El Dorado, she had also resided in Great Bend and Ellsworth.
CLAFLIN - Elizabeth Zorn, 88, died Jan. 16, 2016, at Lakepoint Assisted Living, Augusta. She was born Oct. 29, 1927, in rural Barton County, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel. On May 10, 1948, she married Leonard Zorn in Dubuque, Kansas. He died June 18, 2010. A lifetime Barton County resident (2010), she worked in the lunch program at USD 354, Claflin, for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Ruthetta R. Irvin, 91, La Crosse, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse. Mrs. Irvin was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Otis, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin and Susanna (Brack) Brack.
Lucile M. (Cosandier) Berges, 98, formerly of Onaga, passed away Jan. 12, 2016, at the River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born June 27, 1917, at Onaga, she was the daughter of Philip and Leah Rossier Cosandier. On May 23, 1943, she married Glenn L. Berges at Onaga. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 2000. She graduated from Onaga High School and from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. She retired from the teaching profession in 1981.
GARFIELD - Emma E. Olson, 93, passed away Jan. 12, 2016, at her home in Garfield. Emma Emelia was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Garfield, the daughter of Albert and Esther Peterson Mostrom. A lifetime Garfield resident she worked for the United States Post Office as part time clerk in Garfield and Lewis for 15 years. She also worked for Unified School District 495 as secretary of the Garfield School for 17 years. After receiving a three year teaching certificate from Fort Hays State College she taught at a country school in Rush County for one year. During World War II ...
HOISINGTON - Larry Lee Klein, 55, of Hitschmann, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2016, at his home. Larry was born on Feb. 12, 1960, in Hoisington, the son of Larry and Helen Klein. He grew up and attended school in Hoisington and never strayed far from his Barton County roots.
