Kenneth Morris Warner, 90, died June 16, 2016 at Almost Home, Inc., in Great Bend. He was born Sept. 21, 1925, the son of Albert and Mabel (Renken) Warner. He married Rubye Estes Young October 23, 1948 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Louis, Mo. She died August 5, 2006.
LARNED - Ronald F. Scranton, 70, died June 15, 2016, at his home in Larned. Born Sept. 8, 1945, in the Hays Hospital, he was the son of Alvin E. and Ava June Worcester Scranton. In 1963, he graduated from Hill City High School and attended the University of Kansas and Kansas State University, earning BS and MS degrees in Horticulture and Business. On April 8, 1967, he married Martha Deason in Lawrence. She survives. He was the owner and operator of Larned Greenhouse, Flower Shop and Nursery from 1972 to 2010.
HUTCHINSON - Roberta J. "Bert" Fiedler, 52, died June 13, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 19, 1963, in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Dennis and Eleanor Demel Fiedler. In 1982, she graduated from Chase High School. A 30 year resident of Hutchinson formerly of Chase, she was a housekeeper for the Good Samaritan Society in Hutchinson.
Edgar "Ed" Titsworth, 89, died Dec. 22, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 31, 1925, in Sayer, Okla., he was the son of William L. and Artie (Hilley) Titsworth. On Aug. 2, 1947, he married Naomi Emaline Thomas in Carson City, Nev. She died on March 11, 2005. A resident of Great Bend since 2004, coming from Tracy, Calif., he was a forklift operator for Fiberboard Paper Mill.
HOLYROOD - Lela Charlene Frye, 66, passed away, Friday, June 10, 2016, at her home in Holyrood. Born June 19, 1949, in Mayfield, Ky. she was the daughter of Thomas Drexler Frye and Hilda Marie (Champman) Frye.
O C McCrary, was born on May 31, 1931, in a log cabin on Sugar Hill near Lincoln, Ark. He was the only child of Doc Woods and Zella Arvelle (Kirk) McCrary. On Oct. 16, 1951, he married Wanza Lou Willis. They celebrated 62 years together. O C departed this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the age of 85 years.
TOPEKA - Marilyn Dobratz, 87, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, after a short illness. Born June 9, 1929, in Salina, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary Schwarz Jilka. In 1947, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She attended St. Mary College in Leavenworth and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in dietetics and institutional management in 1951. On May 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Dobratz at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together.
BURDETT - Dora May Cooley, 87, passed away June 11, 2016, at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Larned, she was the daughter of James Carl and Nellie Taylor Northern. On June 7, 1947, she married Verle Cooley in Larned. He passed away Oct. 11, 2003. A lifetime area resident, she was retired from the Larned State Hospital.
Rev. Lee Allen Stubblefield, at the age of 78, one of God's most faithful servants was called home on June 10, 2016 at Leisure Homestead, St. John. He was born on July 4, 1937 at Tulsa, Okla., the son of Carson and Gertrude Rose (Higley) Stubblefield. He was a Baptist minister serving at the Omega Church in Akron, Ind., Great Bend Bible Church and he was Chaplain at Ogden Rescue Mission, Utah. He received a BA degree in Biblical Education at Western Bible Institute and was a 14-year veteran of the US Navy. On Jan. 26, 1960 he married ...
Jane Helen Bowyer, 85, died June 9, 2016, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born March 21, 1931, in Ellis, she was the daughter of Fred W. and Aethel (Bruegel) Homburg. On June 5, 1955, she married LaVern George Bowyer at the St. John Lutheran Church in Ellis. He died on Feb. 12, 2006. A Great Bend resident since 1986, coming from rural Albert, she was a homemaker, retired dairy farmer and farm wife, Avon Lady and owner and operator of the Jayhawker Motel in Great Bend.
