WAKITA, OKLA. - Marvin O. Conrady, 85, passed away Oct. 4, at Enid, Okla. Born Jan. 19, 1929 on the homestead in Grant County, Oklahoma, he was the son of Otto Anthony and Jenny (Kletcka) Conrady.
SUN CITY, Calif. - Arnold F. Davis, 91, passed away Oct. 2, 2014 at Sunny Rose Glen Senior Care at Menifee, Calif.
Lucinda Guliford, 100, died Sept. 30 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Fayetteville, Ga. Born May 31, 1914 at Jetmore, she was the daughter of Noah and Eliza (Gill) Reed.

LIBERAL - Ramon Hernandez, 91, formerly of Great Bend, passed away on Oct. 1 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. He was born on June 10, 1923, at Los Alamos de San Antonio, Ojinaga, Mexico. On Nov. 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eloisa Tercero at Ojinaga, Mexico. The family moved to Great Bend in 1991. Ramon enjoyed reading and music and was an outdoors person who loved gardening. He was known as a very happy person.
SALINA - Jose Diaz Martinez, 84, passed away Sept. 30. He was born on July 30, 1930, in Throckmorton, Texas. He owned and operated A-1 Body Shop as an auto body mechanic for 17 years.
OLMITZ - Clara M. Bahr, 102, died Oct. 1 at her home in rural Olmitz. She was born Oct. 4, 1911, at Barton County, the daughter of Joseph and Matilda (Beran) Birzer. She married Leonard R. Bahr Nov. 17, 1936, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ellinwood. He died April 12, 1993. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mrs. Bahr was a homemaker and farmwife.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Dr. Marilyn L. Miller, 83, passed away on May 22, 2014 at Beacon Place Hospice in Greensboro, N.C. Born Oct. 9, 1930, in St. Joseph, Mo., she was the daughter of James Irving Miller and Merna Liggett Miller. She was Professor Emeritus, Department of library and Information Studies, University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Martha E. Merten died on Feb. 11, 2006, at her home in Greensboro, N.C., Born in 1932, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd W. and Margaret D. Merten. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1950. In 1954 she received her baccalaureate degree from Oklahoma College for Women and in 1960 she received a master's degree in Reading Development from the University of Michigan.
GIRARD, Ohio - Joseph Dale Brackbill, 57, passed away on Sept. 29, 2014 while a patient at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio, following a period of declining health. Born Dec. 10, 1956, in Dodge City, he was the son to Arlo and Beulah (Ray) Brackbill and brother of Ben and Tim Brackbill, Patricia (Brackbill) Schlosser, and Beverly (Brackbill) Benton. While residing in Larned, he was an aide, LMHT, and Registered Nurse at Larned State Hospital. He worked for over 15 years for the State of Nevada as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric hospital before his retirement.
Richard A. "Dick" Dunlap, 82, died Sept. 30 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born Jan. 13, 1932 at Blackwell, Okla. the son of Irven Franklin and Thelma Ilene (Yager) Dunlap.
HEALY - Billy Ray Pike, 88, died Sept. 28, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City. Born March 17, 1926, in Kingman, he was the son of Clarence Earl and Elsie Mae (Wagonseller) Pike. On Aug. 30, 1950, he married Beth Stewart in Healy. He attended grades 1 through 5 in Kansas and 6 through 11 in California and then moved to Healy and graduated with the Class of 1944. Paul E. Dyer, 84, died Oct. 8 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Great Bend, he was the son of Homer and Katherine (Jones) Dyer. On Jan. 4, 1954, he married Julitta M. Elsen, in Great Bend. She died on March 12, 1995. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.
John D. Trimmer, 65, of Great Bend and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 8, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, at Belleville, to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976, at Pawnee Rock. She died on July 22, 2013. John worked as a chain hand in the oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling and spending time with family.
CIMARRON - Johnna Franks, 65, died Oct. 8, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. Born Nov. 1, 1948, in Independence, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Norma (Marlett) Carroll. She graduated high school in Fredonia. She was a convenience store manager for 30 years. On June 28, 1970, she married Larry Franks in Fredonia. She and Larry moved to Cimarron from Great Bend, and spent the last three years RVing full time. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards.
LA CROSSE - Viola Mae Yost, 99, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Oct. 7, at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. Born Viola Mae Wimmer on July 25, 1915, in Harlan, she was the daughter of Harvey Lester and Mary Ann Zion Wimmer. She graduated from Portis High School, attended college at York College for two years, then finished her teaching education at Fort Hays State University. Robert J. "Bob" Tittel, 56, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 5, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on Jan. 23, 1958 in Ness City, he was the son of Benhardt and Hildegard Frieda Emma (Schettler) Tittel. In 1976, he graduated from Ness City High School, and that same year he moved to Great Bend. A longtime Great Bend resident, he worked for many years as a cable technician for CableVision in Great Bend until health issues prevented him from working. Bob was a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades, and enjoyed many activities, including auto body restoration.
James W. Herren, 92, died Oct. 6, at Sumner County Care Center in Wellington. Born June 24, 1922, in Great Bend, he was the son of George L. and Minda (Knighton) Herren. On July 10, 1978, he married Beverly A. Barnes in Wichita. She preceded him in death. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a supervisor for Kansas Foundation for the Blind.
