PAWNEE ROCK - Charles Wilbur Russell, 90, died April 14 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Born Nov. 17, 1922 in Carroll County, Mo., he was the son of Charles Walter and Lena (Adcock) Russell. On Sept. 6, 1942, he married Berdene Lou (Glaze) in Larned. She preceded him in death. A Pawnee Rock resident from 1959 to 2009, he was a 37 year civil servant for the U.S. Army Reserves.

CHERRYVALE - Walter Frank Eilts, 74, Cherryvale, died on April 8. Born in Rush County on March 14, 1939, he was the son of Edward and Anna Eilts. In 1957 he graduated from Great Bend High School. He attended Salt City Business College. On Aug. 4, 1961, he married Phyllis Chapham.

He was a loving spouse, respected business owner, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. E. Pearl Carson, 99, died April 7 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Dec. 22, 1913 in Wilcox, Ariz., she was the daughter of John Smith and Suzie Stahl. On Dec. 21, 1929 she married Russell Augusta Carson in Oklahoma City, Okla. He died in 1968. An Ellinwood resident for the past 10 years, and a Barton County resident since 1945, formerly of Oklahoma, she was retired from Fuller Brush. She also worked in food service and did baby-sitting. She was an avid gardener.

A lifetime area resident she was a farmwife and an occupational therapist for the Larned State Hospital for 25 years.
