SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Barbara June (Foster) Meyer, 83, passed away on May 22, at her home in Santa Barbara, Calif. Born July 28, 1931, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Beulah (Harmon) Foster. She was a graduate of Hoisington High School. On Dec. 24, 1949, she married Alfred L. Meyer of Great Bend. She resided in Great Bend until 1964.
HAYS - Lila Lee Gilpin, 84, died June 11, 2015, at the Hays Medical Center. Born March 2, 1931, on the family farm in Barton County, she was the daughter of Chester A. and Florence Helen (Thorpe) Smith. On Jan. 13, 1951, she married her husband of 57 years, Carl G. Gilpin in Great Bend. He died on Dec. 24, 2008. She was a homemaker. She attended business college in Denver, loved to play bridge and dominoes, and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending church meetings and volunteering at Hays Medical Center.
Denise "Dee" Beltz, 50, peacefully passed away from this life, into eternal life with Jesus on Monday, June 8, 2015, following a valiant fight with stage four lung cancer. Her supporters carried her through the last two years of grueling radiation, chemotherapy and hundreds of tests and appointments.
Alyce M. Draney, 80, died June 8, 2015, at her home in Great Bend. She was born April 9, 1935, at Bertrand, Nebraska, the daughter of Jesse and Madge (Stevens) Dyer. She married Ralph E. Draney Oct. 30, 1950. A Great Bend resident since 1958, she was a homemaker and an avid flower and vegetable gardener.
SCOTSDALE, Ariz. - Janlyn Miner Morrison died May 13, 2015. Born Dec. 18, 1939, in Dodge City, to Arline (Collins) and Robert Dudley Miner, "Jan" was the great-granddaughter of two pioneering western Kansas farm families. The family moved to Great Bend in 1946, where Jan attended public schools and then Kansas University her freshman year.
HAYS - Matthew Harlan "Matt" Stricker, 41, passed away June 7, 2015, at his home in Hays. Born Feb. 9, 1974, in Russell, he was the son of Gottfried Jr. and Marsha (Boxberger) Stricker. He grew up in Russell until the fourth grade when Matt and his family moved to Hays. In 1992 he graduated from Hays High School. He was a co-owner of Back To Nature Inc. of Hays.
LARNED - Carolyn S. Rein, 53, passed away June 4, at her home in Larned. Born May 31, 1962, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Rosemarie H. Henrici Rein. She was an Insurance Medical Clerk.
RUSH CENTER - Dotty Ann Kober, 83, died July 13, 2015, at Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse. Born Sept. 19, 1931, in Rush Center, she was the daughter of Ernest G. and Zelma Mae (Moore) Hallett. In 1953, she married John B. Kober. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1990. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1949 graduate of La Crosse High School, she was a farmer. She also worked for Locust Grove Village in La Crosse for many years.
ODIN - Anna M. Hitschmann, 95, died July 14, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 31, 1919, on the farm near Odin, Kansas, the daughter of Peter J. and Louisa (Korkisch) Meyeres.
ELLINWOOD - Edna Claudine Ringwald, 83, died on July 11, 2015, in Great Bend. Born Aug. 15, 1931, at the family home in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Claude and Alice (Lovely) Ewalt. On May 18, 1952, she married Reinder Carl Ringwald in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2015. A lifetime resident of rural Rice County and Ellinwood, she was a housewife and actively participated with her beloved husband in their farming and livestock operation.
ALBERT- Judith J. Hrymecki, 74, passed away at her home in Albert on Sunday evening, July 12, 2015. Born Jan. 9, 1941, at White Heath, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert Dwight and Nannie Elizabeth (Parker) Robinson. On Dec. 14, 1979, she was united in marriage to John J. Hrymecki at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakley, Mich. The couple made their home in Chapin, Mich., for 15 years and then in Owosso, Mich., for 15 years prior to moving to Albert in 2009. While in Michigan, Judith worked for Universal Electric, Woodards Furniture and Ovid Convalescent Home.
Richard Alton Miller, 43, died July 13, 2015, at his home in Great Bend. Born May 31, 1972, in Long Beach, Calif., he was the son of Donald and Mary Lou Miller. He was supervisor of Campus Security at Barton Community College.
Roxie Bernice Swinger, 94, died on June 24, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on April 4, 1921, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she was the daughter of Alonso Noel Trent and Amy Garrett Trent. On July 20, 1940, she married Jack E. Swinger in Wichita.
STAFFORD - M. Sharon Chansler, 84, went to be with the Lord July 11, 2015, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born Dec. 13, 1930, at Eureka, she was the daughter of Emmett and Masil McDaniel Hall. A 1948 graduate of Langdon High School, she also attended Adalahale Business College in Hutchinson. On Dec. 24, 1950, she married Paul W. Chansler while Paul was on leave while serving with the United States Army. They were married for over 64 years. CHASE - Phillip Lee Bryant, 63, of rural Chase, passed away July 11, 2015. Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Great Bend, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy Bryant. On May 5, 1972, he married Teresa Malea Campbell in Lyons. They were married 37 years. She passed away on Nov. 15, 2009. He was employed by Silica Grain for 32 years. He was currently employed with Ellinwood Tank Service. He loved spending every minute with his family. He also enjoyed taking his grandson on trips and spending lots of time with him.
