LAWRENCE - Robert Rockey Evans (Bob), 94, was born on June 15, 1921, in Oklahoma City, Okla. and died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at his home in Lawrence. He leaves his wife of 71 years, Lydia Spencer Evans; his daughter Patricia Ann Bird; his sons, Robert Rockey Evans Jr., James Warren Evans II, David Spencer Evans, and David Lee Barclay; their spouses and 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many close friends.
Donald Maynard Beers Jr., 52, died Aug. 20, 2015, at his home in Great Bend. Born July 10, 1963, he was the son of Donald and Mary (Brown) Beers Sr. A lifetime Barton County resident he was a machinist for Aaron's Repair. He was a hot rod, motorcycle, and drag racing enthusiast, also enjoying tools, guns, rock and roll, and electronics.
Frank Priesner, 98, died Aug. 20, 2015, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. He was born March 14, 1917, at Hoisington, the son of Frank and Mildred Priesner. He married Bertha M. Wells Nov. 9, 1940, at Great Bend. She died June 17, 2008. He was warehouse manager for O'Neill Tank Company.
HOISINGTON - Leta E. Ochs, 73, died Aug. 19, 2015, at her daughter's home in Great Bend. She was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of Floyd Dean and Valaska LeVerne (Henderson) Jackson. Leta graduated from Hutchinson High School.
WINFIELD - Susan E. West, 79, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 15, 2015, at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City. Born Dec. 27, 1935, in Ponca City, Okla., she was the daughter of Donald Lee and Imogene Coenia (Gardner) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1953. After high school she attended Wichita Business College where she received a degree in accounting. Allen M. Juergensen, 79, died Aug. 17, 2015, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born July 18, 1936, in Sagerton, Texas, he was the son of Olaf and Agaetha (Schulz) Juergensen. He was employed by Western Power and Light at the Mullergren Plant and retired as a load dispatcher at Centel.
ST.JOHN - Manuel Herrera, 20, died Sunday Aug. 16, 2015 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. Born May 22, 1995 at Brighton, Colo., he was the son of Jesus and Luz Emilia Herrera. He was a graduate of St. John High School. He is survived by his parents: Jesus and Luz Herrera; brothers: Erick Herrera and Omar Herrera; grandparents: Francisco Balderrama R., Ma de los Angeles Mendez M., Manuel Herrera M. and Monserrat Chavez O; and many aunts and uncles.
HOISINGTON - Randall Lugene "Randy" Ritter, 62, died Aug. 13, 2015, at his mother's home in Great Bend. Born June 6, 1953, in Hoisington, he was the son of Gene and Barbara (Drake) Ritter. A long-time resident of Hoisington, also residing in Yates Center and Salina, he was an engineer for the Missouri-Pacific and Union Pacific Railroad. He was a guitar and airplane enthusiast.
