LAWRENCE- Norma Jean (Wagner) Stangle, 87, of Lawrence and formerly of Russell, Gorham and Ellsworth, passed away Sunday, March 1, at the Brandon Woods in Lawrence. Born Aug. 14, 1927, she was the daughter of E.M. "Bake" and Hulda (Dauber) Wagner.
HUTCHINSON - Betty Joyce (Kerbs) Abel, 89, died March 5, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. Born Nov. 12, 1925, at Oits, she was the daughter of Leonard E. and Hannah (Brack) Kerbs. She was a member of Otis United Methodist Church and Eastern Star #104 receiving her Gold Certificate representing 50 years, and Liberal Lyons Club. Betty and Walt were owners and operators of Abel Dirt Construction Company in Liberal for over 20 years.
HUTCHINSON - Gary Linn Mundhenke, 73, died March 4, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 8, 1941, in Great Bend, he was the son of Elbert and Kathleen (Porter) Mundhenke. He was a 1959 graduate of Ainsworth, NE High School and graduated from Kansas State University, with a degree in Nuclear Engineering, in 1964. While at KSU, Gary was the Student Body President 1963-64, Chancellor of the Student Tribunal, member of the Blue Key Honor Society and Farmhouse Fraternity. William Lorin "Bill" Janssen, 65, died March 7, at his home in Great Bend. Born Nov. 28, 1949, in Beloit, he was the son of William Franklin and Treva (Peters) Janssen. On Nov. 1, 1986, he married Shirley Smither Larson in Great Bend. The long time resident of Great Bend had been a private contractor for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed bowling, golf, softball, sporting events, and above all, he treasured his time with his grandchildren.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Martha Moore "Marty" Dickinson, 53, died March 7, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 12, 1961, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Robert, M.D. and Bernice (Mitchell) Moore. On Sept. 12, 1981, she married Michael Kent Dickinson in Hoisington. A resident of Oklahoma City, Okla. since 1990, coming from Augusta, she was a homemaker and an x-ray technologist.
ELLINWOOD - Sherry A. Karpe, 71, formerly of Liberal, passed away on March 5, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Oct. 8, 1943, in Tulare, Calif. she was the daughter of Marvin and Elizabeth (Brownfield) Bell. On Feb. 2, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Karpe in Perryton, Texas. He died on Feb. 2, 2001. The couple lived in Liberal, where Sherry worked as a cook for the Golden Derrick restaurant in Liberal for many years. She enjoyed fishing and spoiling her grandchildren.
Shawn L. Adams, 47, passed away on March 6, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 20, 1967, in Omaha, Neb., she was the daughter of Richard Olsen and Carol Street-Propst. She was employed at Rosewood Services as a horticulturist. As an avid gardener, she enjoyed working in the greenhouse and volunteering her time at the local Farmers Market.
HOISINGTON - Virginia Ruth Adams, 90, died March 6, at her home in Hoisington. Born Oct. 23, 1924, in Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Harry and Elon (Seaborn) Mills.
John R. Keenan, 74, died March 5 at Autumn Hills Retirement Home, Riley. Born May 16, 1940 at Great Bend, he was the son of Russell S. and Mareeta Ann (Rohrer) Keenan.
WICHITA - Reddy, Dr. Satti Satyanarayana, 79, died Friday, March 6. He was born March 14, 1935 on a rural farm in Agraharam in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He had six other siblings.
Barbara Beth Adms, 91, died March 4, 2015. Born April 22, 1923, in Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Wilbur Floyd and Hilda Leola (Christiansen) Bryant. On Oct. 11, 1946, she married Harry Hugh Adams in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 1946, coming from Ellinwood, she was an office clerk for the State of Kansas Agriculture Office and was a homemaker. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
ELLINWOOD - Lorraine Mary (Matza) Rickert, 78, died March 4, 2015, at her home in Ellinwood. Born on April 8, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Brungardt) Matza. She graduated high school from St. Mary's school in Garden City, attended the Immaculate Conception Convent in Great Bend, and also graduated from the Wilcox Beauty Academy. She later married Larry Rickert on May 9th, 1963, in Holly, Colo. She was a 52-year resident of Ellinwood, where she worked as a beautician.

Mary Jane Wells, 89, died April 4, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Fort Scott she was the daughter of James L. and Lillie Mae (Chambers) Parker and was later adopted by Ruth Chidester Noggle. She attended school in St. John and later in Russell, where she graduated from in 1943. On June 1, 1943, she married Wayne Ingalls Grippin. They later divorced. She then married Joseph B. Wells. ELLSWORTH - Merlin Thomas (Thom) Stang, 66, passed away March 26 at his home in Ellsworth. Thom was born to Albert and Anita Stang on August 7, 1948 in Marysville. He was raised in Victoria and was part of their graduating class of 1966. Thom was drafted and served the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas. In 1972, he married Ruann Kuntzsch. He completed training and was certified in printing at Salina Area Technical College.
WICHITA - Kathryn M. Busch died Monday, April 6. She was the daughter of George and Zoe (True) Yarbrough.
THAILAND - Richard A. Poage passed away in his sleep at his home in Thailand on Jan. 23, with his companion by his side. Born on Sept. 6, 1940, in Great Bend, he was the son of Marion and Irene Poage. Born and raised in Great Bend he worked in the oilfields, like his father, from the age of 17 until retiring from offshore drilling 10 years ago in Thailand. In 1960, he married Sheryl Wheat. They divorced in 1964. In 1968, he married Vicky Campbell while working in Scotland. The divorced in 1975.
MARSHALL, MO. - Walter Ray Simonson, 88, died Feb. 24, 2015, in Marshall, Mo., after an illness of several months.

LEAVENWORTH - Ret. US Army Sgt. 1st Class Arlen Clark Davidson, 67, passed away March 30, 2015, at his home. Born July 9, 1947, in Great Bend, he was the son of Clark and Anna Marguerite (Green) Davidson.
HAYS - Leona Winterlin, 83, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Sterling House in Great Bend. She was born in 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Dan and Elsie (Birkey) Roth. She married DeWayne Winterlin on Aug. 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 20, 2000. She attended Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute. She was an LPN and worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and later at nursing homes in Kansas.
GREAT BEND - William L. "Bill" Titsworth, 65, died March 30, at Hays Medical Center.
