HOISINGTON – Corrine Catherine Finger, 75, died Dec. 31, 2014, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born July 16, 1939, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Lawrence "Joe L." and Regina Marie (Debes) Kaiser. She married Lawrence J. "Larry" Finger, April 27, 1963, in Odin. He died Dec. 1, 2005.
Lillian F. Whitsel Barger Claphan, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. She was born Oct. 14, 1930, at Great Bend, the daughter of George and Frances (Koelsch) Whitsel, Sr.
Virginia K. Hogsett, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at her home in Great Bend. She was born May 5, 1935, at Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Elon Chester "Chief" and Mabel Edith (Wilson) Hogsett.
MANHATTAN - Raydon H. Robel, 72, of Manhattan, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Mercy Regional Heath Center in Manhattan.
WICHITA - R. Duane Kraft, 85, died Dec. 30. He was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Salina, to Leo and Edna Kraft. At an early age, the family moved to Hoisington where Duane attended local schools. Upon graduation, he proudly served in the 216th Chemical Division of the U.S. Army. Following his service, he returned to Hoisington where he worked with his father in the family business, Kraft Shoe Store. He later worked and retired from Kansas Brick & Tile as a salesman.
VALLEY CENTER - Carolyn Marie (Black) Crisler, 50, passed away on Dec. 26, 2014. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of Carl Fredrick Black and Louise (Cotton) Black. She was a Fuller Brush employee.
ELLINWOOD - Leda Grace Janke passed away Dec. 11, 2014, in Aurora, Colo. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Claflin.
RUSSELL - Doris Amelia Steinert, 83, of Russell, died Dec. 29, 2014, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth. A celebration of Doris's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary, with family present to greet guests from 6-7 p.m. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
HUTCHINSON - Mary J. Birzer, 98, passed away on Dec. 28, at Hospice House. Born Dec. 4, 1916, in Odin, she was the daughter of Alois F. and Regina (Hermann) Prosser. She attended school at Holy Family School in Odin. On May 17, 1938, she married Martin Birzer in Odin. He passed away on Dec. 3, 2003. Mary retired in 1980 after 24 years at Dillons.
DeAngelo Carlos Ludin Ortiz, 1 month, 15 days, died Dec. 29 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Born Nov. 14, 2014, at Great Bend, he was the son of Yolanda Ortiz.
SALINA - Delbert Earl Deckert, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, at his home in Salina. Delbert was born April 4, 1929, in Great Bend, the son of Ivan and Sylvia (Williams) Deckert. He graduated from Great Bend Senior High School in 1947, and served in the army with the 216th Chemical Corps Service in December 1950 as part of the Korean War.

Ida Helena Galyardt, 104, died Dec. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. Born Nov. 13, 1910 at Russell County, she was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Voos) Voos.
BUSHTON - Rosemary (Feigenspan) Janssen, 86, died Dec. 22 at her home in Bushton. Born April 9, 1928, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Thomas and Opal E. (Fair) Keegan. Living most her life in the Bushton area, she was a homemaker.
LARNED - Richard Glenn DeBolt, 60, died Dec. 22 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born July 14, 1954, at Chanute, to Charles Robert and Joyce D. (Ross) DeBolt. A Larned resident, he was a security guard at Larned State Hospital.

OREM, Utah - Delpha Irene Freeman Douglas died Feb. 20th. Born July 11, 1905, at Bogard, Carrollton County, Mo., she was the daughter of John Franklin Freeman and Alice Virginia Smith Freeman. On Aug. 2, 1924, she married Charlie Nelson Douglas in Anthony. He died on Sept. 17, 1981.

ALBERT - LoRay D. George, 83, died Feb. 21, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in La Crosse. Born Sept. 1, 1931, in rural Albert he was the son of Herman "H. D." and Hilda "A. C." (Tammen) George. On Aug. 21, 1959, he married Anna Mae Wheeler at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 2002. A lifelong resident of Rush County he was a farmer.
LARNED - Larry L. Fleske, 55, passed away Feb. 20, at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Oct. 9, 1959, in Great Bend, he was the son of Walter W. and Rena J. Eveleigh Fleske. On Jan. 14, 1989, he married Sharon L. Horne in Great Bend. She survives. A lifetime area resident of Larned he was farmer/stockman.
LARNED - Gerald P. (Short) Penka, 62, passed away Jan. 11, 2015, at his home in Norwood, Mass., following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

LARNED - Mary Beth Herrmann, 59, died on Feb. 18, at Diversicare of Larned. Born Feb. 23, 1955, in Kinsley, she was the daughter of Quentin J. and Lucy W. Tholen Herrmann. She graduated from Barton County Community College with an A.A. in Nursing and from Barclay College with a B.S. in Business Administration. A lifetime area resident, she was a Registered Nurse and Administrator at the Pawnee County Health Department.

BISON - Ella Marie Steitz was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Bison in Rush County, the daughter of Jacob and Ella (Schaumburg) Scheuerman. She was adopted and raised by her parents, Constain and Florence (Scheuerman) Steitz. She graduated from Bison High School in 1952 and attended Fort Hays College. After living in Denver, Colo. for 31 years, she retired from Shell Chemical and returned to Bison in 1988.
