NEWTON - Darrel L. Unruh, 74, of Newton, passed away on Wednesday Nov. 25, 2015. He was born to Harvey and Geneva Unruh in Great Bend. He grew up with his two brothers, Donovan and Dennis, on a farm outside of Pawnee Rock. He graduated from Pawnee Rock High School in 1959, then went to General Motors School in Kansas City. After completion of the program, he married Wanda Mausolf on Sept. 14, 1960, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. He then went to work as a mechanic.
BISON - Forrest Tupper, 69, died Nov. 24, 2015, at Huron Regional Medical Center in South Dakota. Born Dec. 3, 1945, in Goodland, he was the son of Chester Arthur and Ola Inez (Veneman) Tupper. He was a resident of Bison since 1980, moving there from Weskan. In 1963, he graduated from Weskan High School in Weskan. In 1974, he graduated from Bethel College in North Newton, receiving a bachelor's degree in zoology. On Nov. 30, 1974, he married Janie Showers at Sharon Springs. He, along with his wife Janie, owned and operated Tupper Harvesting.
Gwini C. Delgado, 64, passed away on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 28, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born on Aug. 27, 1951 in Scott City, she was the daughter of John F. and Elaine Maxine (Shearmire) Graham. She lived in various places until 1975, when she moved back home to Great Bend, On Jan. 8, 1986, she married Frank Delgado at Winter Park, Colo. In 1978, She was co-founder and owner of Kiowa Kitchen Restaurant at Great Bend. She loved the outdoors and snow skiing, and was an avid fisherman.
HOISINGTON - Florence Marie Clayton Doze passed from this life Nov. 25, 2015, in Wichita. Born on Jan. 19, 1938, in Kingman, she was the daughter of Harry and Blanche (Wallace) Clayton. A long time resident of Barton County, where she raised her family, she worked as a dispatcher most of her adult life first in the oilfield then later for Barton County Sheriff 's office where she retired in 1998. Abbie Louise Miller, a resident of Great Bend since 1945, entered her eternal home Friday, Nov. 27, 2015. Abbie and her husband Dean moved to Great Bend after Dean returned from serving in Italy during World War II. They were married June 14, 1943, in Rapid City, S.D.
Doyle Rand, 88, died on Nov. 21, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Rodney, Ark., he was the son of John Henry and Sylvia (Hand) Rand. In 1949, he met the love of his life Betty Lou Rutter in Pratt. They were married on April 17, 1949, in Coats. She passed away on July 15, 2015. A resident of Great Bend he worked in the oil fields with Harms Petroleum for 33 years and was the owner of Rand Properties.
Margaret Mary Heinz, 86, died Nov. 20, 2015, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born Jan. 11, 1929, at Dodge City, the daughter of Jake and Bertha (Andra) Heinz. Until her death, Margaret was dedicated to the care of her daughter with special needs. She was a beautician and homemaker. She had been a Great Bend resident since 2008, coming from Canon City, Colo.
WICHITA - Helen Louise Willingham, 103, died Nov. 20, 2015, at Sandpiper Bay in Wichita. She was born March 31, 1912, at Wichita, the daughter of Grant and Freda (Behrens) McNett. She married Delton "Willie" Willingham Nov. 28, 1950, at Bentonville, Arkansas. He died Aug. 12, 1989. She and Willie owned the Big Wheel Drive-In for 15 years.
