Ida "Irene" Peak, 86, died Feb. 13, 2016, at Hays Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Neosho County, she was the daughter of Orace W. and Ruth A. (Mathes) Peercy. On Sept. 1, 1947, she married Glenn D. Peak Jr., in Parsons. He died on May 23, 1997. A resident of Great Bend since 1966, coming from Chanute, she was a senior inspector for Fuller Brush, retiring in 1983 to become the primary caregiver to her husband, Glenn. Irene was also instrumental in raising funds to bring the first dialysis center to Great Bend.
HOISINGTON - Fern Ochs Axman, 94, died Feb. 14, 2016, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 23, 1921, in La Crosse, she was the daughter of Chester Henry and Ollie V. (Butler) Crotinger. She graduated from Bison High School. On Oct. 5, 1941, she married Orland Ochs in Galatia. He died April 23, 1959. She then married Sylvester Axman on July 18, 1970, in Hoisington. He died July 26, 1970.
SALINA - Phillip O. Carlson, 93, passed away Feb. 15, 2016. Born on May 22, 1922, in Gypsum, he was the son of Albert and Edith Carlson. He retired from Rickel Manufacturing in 1984. He also farmed with his dad and brother in the Gypsum area. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Donna for nine years before she passed. At age 78, Phil and Theresa Dykes were married and had 12 wonderful years together.
OTIS - Fredrick P. "Fred" Fuhr, 67, died Feb. 10, 2016, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital and ER in Wichita. Born July 21, 1948, in Great Bend, he was the son of Paul A. and Eunice D. (Morgenstern) Fuhr. In 1966 he graduated from Great Bend High School. On April 6, 1993, he married Niki Van Dyke at Wichita. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a meat market manager for Dillon's before his retirement.
Ellinwood - Naida Jeanne Fordyce, 84, died February 12, 2016, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born November 20, 1931, in Newton, the daughter of Richard Fred and Lulu Marie (Shambaugh) Householter.
Gertrude Ann Bonham, 89, died Feb. 13, 2016, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born Oct. 25, 1926, at Swarthmore, Pa., the daughter of George Joseph and Ida W. (Waterson) Sullivan. She married Henry Franklin Irving Aug. 23, 1956, at Berwyn, Pa. They later divorced. She then married Tom Bonham Aug. 9, 1991, at Great Bend. He died March 4, 1995.
Marlin Marvin Disque, 86, died Feb. 13, 2016, at River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend. He was born June 18, 1929, at Claflin, the son of Adam and Margaret C. (Radenberg) Disque. He married Thresa Courange and they later divorced. He then married JoAnn Dunn and they later divorced. He was a plumber and was a long-time Hoisington resident.
Jerry R. Roberts, 64, died Feb. 11, 2016, at his home. Born Aug. 14, 1951 in Great Bend he was the son of Theron J. Roberts Sr. and Georgia (Grizzle) Roberts. In 1969 he graduated from Great Bend High School.
TRIBUNE - Elaine Mae Harper, 79, passed away on Feb. 9, 2016, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune. Born July 7, 1936, at Offerle, she was the daughter of Raymond and Applonia (Stegman)Stegman. On Dec. 27, 1956, she married Marion (Mick) Harper in Offerle. A resident of Tribune since 1957, she was a homemaker. She was an avid fan of the Greeley County School Sports programs as well as KU Basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. GORHAM - Rolland F. "Ladd" Goreham, 89, died Feb. 9, 2016, at the Main Street Manor at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1926, in Yates Center, he was the son of Floyd R. and Pearl E. (Williams) Goreham. On June 15, 1948, he married Joyce E. (Culver) at Yates Center. She died April 5, 2011. He grew up in Yates Center and attended Yates Center High School. Floreine Margaret Blankenship, 97, died Feb. 8, 2016, at Carriage Square Nursing Home in St. Joseph, Mo. Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Boyd, she was the daughter of Herman Paul and Corda Pearl (Wilmoth) Schwartz. On Jan. 30, 1937, she married Paul Wayne Blankenship in Lyons. He died on Feb. 3, 1977. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was a homemaker.
