WICHITA -- Herbert Marlin Wong, 87, retired restaurant owner, passed away July 2. He was a strong –spirited person, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many people. He will be missed by friends and family. Herbert Marlin Wong was born in Canton Village, Canton, China, on Sept. 7, 1923.

Danny F. Renfro, 60, died July 28 at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 26, 1950, at Great Bend, to Willard Francis and Waunita Lucille (Moore) Renfro. He married Karen Sue Miller on July 22, 1992, at Great Bend. She died Aug. 24, 2010. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he worked in the oilfield.
Charles W. Bybee, 71, died July 27 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. He was born Sept. 16, 1939, at Geneseo, to Paul William and Helen (Morehouse) Bybee. He married Janet Stroup on Aug. 9, 1963, at Chase.

ELLINWOOD - Frederick (Lawrence) Hiss, 81, died July 25 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born Oct. 26, 1929 in Great Bend, he was the son of Fred Hiss and Mary Janne Hiss. A lifetime resident of Barton County and Rice County, he worked at Merring's Inc. as an appliance repairman from 1956-57 and was a farmer. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1947. On Aug. 26, 1956 he married Elinor Bryant in Ellinwood.

BELPRE - Helen R. Berscheidt, 94, died April 19, at the Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 22, 1918, she was the daughter of Matt and Martha Heinke Maes. On Feb. 4, 1941 she married John N. Berscheidt in Claflin. He passed away in 1974. A lifetime area resident she was a farmwife and an occupational therapist for the Larned State Hospital for 25 years.
