George and Linda Plowman celebrated their 50th anniversary the weekend of Aug. 9 with family. They attended a surprise baseball game in Kansas City, Royals vs. Red-Sox, on Aug. 9, a family lunch and reception at Paisanos Restaurant in Lawrence, on Aug. 10 and Sunday picnic at Lone Star Lake, where George had proposed to Linda, on Aug. 11.
Lloyd and JoAnn Basgall celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a family vacation hosted by their children at Table Rock Lake, Mo. Their children gave them the gift of a lakeside vacation rental home with all the family spending the week together. The family attended Mass and followed with many lakeside activities including boating, swimming, family memories and smores around a campfire every evening.
Melvin and Helen Urban, of Ellinwood, celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 31 with a weekend of fun with their children and grandchildren and concluded the weekend with a celebration of Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ellinwood. The couple also took an Alaskan cruise vacation in July with their children to celebrate.
Arthur and Sallie Hager will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a Come and Go reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 18, at the Courtyard at Best Western Angus Inn. Friends and family are invited to attend. Hosts for the event will be their children and grandchildren.
Ray and Pat Hanken of Holyrood will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 27, in the Fellowship Hall at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1109 N. Vine Street in Hoisington. Hosts for the event will be their children Steve and Sonja Ritter of Hoisington, Troy and Tonya Chadwell of Flower Mound, Texas, and Terry and Jeni Hanken of McPherson. The couple has six grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Shelly Ritter, Taye Chadwell, and Cole, Trey and Drew Hanken.
Franklin and Theda (Howell) Rose of Pratt will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 13 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 West Lincoln Avenue in Greensburg. Friends and family are invited.
