George and Mary Lee Winter of Great Bend celebrated their 50th anniversary on Dec. 21, with a family lunch at Perkins Restaurant in Great Bend and a reception at their home. Hosts for the event were their son Brad Winter and their daughter Lisa Vance along with husband Judd and granddaughters Sara and Erin. The couple was united in marriage on Dec. 21, 1963 in Hays.
Donald and Lilly Penka will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a Come and Go Reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Best Western Angus Inn. Hosts for the event will be their children and families, Michele, Delbert, Sarah and Samantha Smith; Matt, Christi, Lauren, Blake, and Dru Penka; and Melissa, Ashley, and Braden Sides.

Paul and Nancy Jones, of Hays, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Nov. 27, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo. with their children, Paul Weston and Elodie Jones, Matthew and Shelley Jones, and Jarrod and Stacey Jones and grandchildren. The couple was united in marriage on Nov. 27, 1963 at The Evangelical United Brethren Church in LaCrosse.
Mike and Dixie Watkins will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an Open House from 4 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 29 at the home of Donna and Clark Rusco, 5121 Timber Creek Road in Great Bend. Hosts for the event will be their sons and families, Jeff and Heather Watkins of Lafayette, La. and Craig and Krystal Watkins of Topeka; sisters, Donna and Clark Rusco and Debbie Risley. The couple has six grandchildren, Evan, Lane, Jack and Emory of Louisiana and Devin and Cooper of Topeka.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Karst will celebrate their 75th anniversary with an open house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 16, at Country Place Living, 259 W. 6th in Hoisington. Hosts for the event will be their daughters and families, Bonita and Merlin Ney and Brenda and Frank Riedl. The couple has six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Steve and Vickie Bayse will celebrate their 40th anniversary today. The couple was united in marriage on Oct. 6, 1973 at the Hoisington Bible Church. They have two daughters, Sheven and John Copp of Hoisington and Stacie and Shelby Stone of Great Bend; and nine grandchildren, Jacob Bayse, Jayme and Jaicie Bradley, Daphne Copp, Brayden Copp, Elliott Copp, all of Hoisington and Gentry Stone, Dylan Stone and Liam Stone, all of Great Bend.
George and Linda Plowman celebrated their 50th anniversary the weekend of Aug. 9 with family. They attended a surprise baseball game in Kansas City, Royals vs. Red-Sox, on Aug. 9, a family lunch and reception at Paisanos Restaurant in Lawrence, on Aug. 10 and Sunday picnic at Lone Star Lake, where George had proposed to Linda, on Aug. 11.
Lloyd and JoAnn Basgall celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a family vacation hosted by their children at Table Rock Lake, Mo. Their children gave them the gift of a lakeside vacation rental home with all the family spending the week together. The family attended Mass and followed with many lakeside activities including boating, swimming, family memories and smores around a campfire every evening.
