Edward Hearn will celebrate his 80th birthday with a family dinner hosted by his family in Emporia. He was born on May 25, 1931 in Kingman. He graduated from Kingman High School in 1949 and served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. In 1955, he married Wilhelmia Roedel in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was the owner and operator of Hearn's Tree Service. He has four children, John Hearn of El Dorado, Jeanette Bowen of Ridgeway S.C., Judy Schick of Lebo and James of LaCrosse; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
O C McCrary will celebrate his 80th birthday on May 31. O C was born in a log cabin on Sugar Hill near Lincoln, Ark. to Doc and Zella McCrary. On Oct. 16, 1951, he married Wanza Lou Willis. The couple has six children, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A career with Halliburton took them to McPherson and Great Bend, where they raised their family. Since retiring to the Ozarks, he is devoted to his passionate love of the great outdoors and the catch of his life, his wife.

Clayton Karst celebrated his 90th birthday on March 9, with a dinner held in his honor at Montana Mike's in Great Bend. Attending were his sisters, Isabella Dumler of Hoisington and Pauline Ray of Junction City; daughters, Jan Spencer of Overland Park and Sue LaFaver and husband John of Greeley, Colo.; granddaughter, Angela Walts of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law, Janet Smith of Hoisington; nieces, Barb Nolte and husband Roy of Hoisington, Jolene Hindman, and Patty Stueder and husband Bill, all of Claflin, and Donna Potter of Junction City. A granddaughter Amy LaFaver of Atlanta, Ga. was unable to attend.
Carlos Miller recently celebrated his 95th birthday. His family commemorated this milestone with a small family dinner in his honor. Carlos has been a lifelong resident of the Great Bend area and would love hearing from relatives and friends.
