Students to attend national FBLA conference

ELLINWOOD - Five Ellinwood High School stsudent and sponsor Lorie Betts will be attending the national Future Business Leaders of America conference in Florida for winning competitions at the state conference earlier this year in Topeka, the USD 355 school board heard at its meeting on Monday night.

The Ellinwood City Council will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today. In old business, there will be a public hearing on 106 E. B St., a special purpose vehicle, and the 414 E. 4th demolition bid.

USD 431 to seek input into ‘suitable’education

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington School Board met at its regular meeting on Monday, and adopted a resolution regarding a 'suitable' education and is seeking input from the community on what a suitable education is. The Kansas Constitution requires that students be provided a 'suitable' education.

HMS to hold reading day

HOISINGTON - April 12 is D.E.A.R. Day. D.E.A.R. is an acronym for Drop Everything And Read. For this nationwide day the Hoisington Middle School KAYs and the Title I Reading program decided to host an event that would promote literacy. On April 12, there will be a Scholastic Book Fair at the Hoisington Activity Center in the meeting room. The Fair will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. where the public can purchase books for all ages. Research by Ellinwood student to be featured at forum

TOPEKA- Washburn University student Lisa Ille, of Ellinwood, will participate in the presentation of a group research poster, "Visual Acuity Comparison in Developmental Stages of the Praying Mantis (Tenodera sinenesis)," at The Washburn Apeiron: A Forum of Student Research, Scholarship and Creativity on Friday, April 22, on the Washburn University campus.
