HOISINGTON - At a special meeting Thursday, the Hoisington school district approved the student handbook, approved supplemental and classified positions and entered into a cooperative agreement with Grace Academy.
CLAFLIN - The governing body of the City of Claflin met in regular session, Aug. 9 at the city building. Present were: Mayor Curtis Nelson, Councilpersons Kirk Schneweis, Dan Michaelis, Leon Oberle and Angie Bailey. Also present: City Attorney Bob Suelter, City Clerk Patricia Schmidt, Robert Gunder, Richard Hayes, Mel Waite and Curtis Kaiser.
HOISINGTON - Hoisington Main Street Inc. will hold its annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Banquet at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus. This celebration of volunteer efforts is a great way to thank all of the people that make HMSI successful. The theme for this years banquet is "Under Construction – A Smooth Road to the Future" and without the volunteers that devoted their time, energy and money to the organization it wouldn't be possible.
HOISINGTON - Debra Brockel, physician assistant at Clara Barton Hospital and Clinic was presented with the 2010 Medical Advisor of the Year Award by the Kansas Emergency Medical Service Association. The presentation was made during the association's annual conference on Aug. 14.
ELLINWOOD - Taylor Schartz, formerly of Ellinwood, participated in the Millie Lewis Actors Models and Talent for Christ Competition in Orlando, Florida July 6 to 11. Schartz competed on an International level before peers, observers, agents, managers, industry professionals and casting directors, excelling in the performing arts.
