ELLINWOOD -Some of Ellinwood's finest performers are joining forces to perform a vocal showcase to benefit the Historic Wolf Hotel. The event's theme is "A Night With Show People," and local performers will share songs that celebrate show business and a love of performing. The cost for the event is $20 per person and includes hors d'oeuvres.
HOISINGTON - Hoisington High School teacher Christina Lamoureaux will be presenting an exhibit, Pulse of the Prairie at Moss-Thorns Gallery Fort Hays State University, Rarick Hall on June 27 until July 17. Reception will be June 27 at 7 p.m.
Approximately 149 calls for service and 131 officer initiated calls were received for the month of May. Officers responded to eight medical/fire calls. Eight arrests were made and 10 criminal summons were served in the month of May.

HOISINGTON - For the first time ever, the Kansas High School Activities Association executive board has placed middle schools into an activities league. Pratt, Larned and Hoisington were placed into the Central Kansas League for middle schools starting with the 2015-2016 school year.

ELLINWOOD - On June 5, at approximately 6:02 p.m., the Ellinwood Police Department responded to an accident involving three vehicles in the area of US 56 Highway, East Santa Fe Boulevard, and Bismark Avenue.
ELLINWOOD - The USD 355 School District approved Chad Petz to the Ellinwood Recreation Board for four years at its regular meeting last week. Steve Billinger and Bob Baker interviewed three candidates for the position. They presented their recommendation of Chad Petz to the Board, according to the unofficial minutes.
