Well, the summer is about to pass us by, and school in Ellinwood is scheduled to start on Aug. 25. So here is a reminder for everyone. Watch for children riding their bicycles to and from school. We all need to be observant of the children walking as they cross at the intersections throughout the town.

HMSI holds state-wide conference in Hoisington

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Main Street Inc. held a quarterly training session in Hoisington for the state-wide Main Street Inc. program with over 80 people from across the state in attendance last Thursday. On Friday, about 30 directors also attended the directors-only conference.

St. John Parish to offer basketball trophies at auction

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish of Hoisington will be offering the parish basketball trophies from previous years (prior to 2009) by holding a Silent Auction at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus Hall, 114 N. Main St., on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. Bids must be placed by 2 p.m. and trophies picked up before closing that day.

Clayton Doll benefit to be held

Family and friends of Clayton Doll's are working towards helping Clayton fight Multiple Myeloma. This fight is made possible by the generous support and kindness of people like you. They are kindly asking for donations. The benefit will take place at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the American Legion in Ellinwood.
