LORRRAINE - USD 112, Quivira Heights and Wilson Schools, are three of 4,000 libraries across the country selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association to receive free hardcover editions of 17 classic books as part of the We the People Bookshelf grant program. The theme of this year's Bookshelf is "A More Perfect Union."
Approximately 100 calls for service and 125 Officer initiated calls were received for the month of August. Officers responded to seven medical/fire calls and worked four non-injury accidents. three arrests and five criminal summonses were issued in the month of August.
Claflin Elementary School, Ellinwood Grade School and Roosevelt and Lincoln Elementary Schools in Hoisington are once again collecting General Mills Box Tops for Education and are encouraging collection from area residents.

HOISINGTON - The Kansas Hospital Association Leadership Institute graduated its ninth class of 32 students on Aug. 27 at the Critical Issues Summit in Wichita. Gloria Walsh, human resource director for Clara Barton Hospital was among the graduates.
