The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is currently seeking applicants for their 2014 healthcare career scholarships. Each year the Foundation desires to present several individuals with scholarships. Scholarship amount varies with the merits of the application and funds available from the endowments. The four scholarships to be awarded are: Jonathan Witt Scholarship, Sadie Stalcup Scholarship, Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship and Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship. Application deadline for all scholarships is April 1, 2014.

BUSHTON - Central Plains Middle School would like to recognize Rebecca Stratmann and Lee Letourneau as the February Students of the Month.
The Hoisington High School Cardinal Forensics Team placed third out of eleven schools Saturday in competition at Great Bend High School. For their eforts, the team earned at third place trophy and several medals. They followed Sterling in first place and Hodgeman County (Jetmore) in second.

For about 15 years, those who like to launch model rockets come from throughout the state and even from out-of-state to launch rockets
HOISINGTON - The City of Hoisington at its regular meeting on Monday, approved three engineering finalists to interview for reworking the community's sewage lagoons. The lagoons were found to be deficient by the Environmental Protection Agency because of short circuiting of lagoon waters.

CLAFLIN -The governing body of the City of Claflin met in regular session, at 7 p.m. on Monday February 10 in the city building. Easter Egg Hunt to be held
ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Ellinwood City council discussed traffic flow in front of Ellinwood Grade School on Sixth Street.
This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.

HOISINGTON - At the Hoisington School Board meeting on Monday, the school board heard preliminary plans for separating the Hoisington Middle School Library into two rooms.
