CLAFLIN -The governing body of the City of Claflin met in regular session, at 7 p.m. on Monday February 10 in the city building. Present were: Mayor Michael Urban, Councilpersons Kirk Schneweis, Doug Hubbard, Kelly Nixon, Dan Michaelis and Casey Hubbard. Also present: City Attorney Robert Suelter, City Clerk Patricia Schmidt, Robert Gunder, Pat Schneweis, Joyce Mooney and Curtis Wolf.
HOISINGTON -The Hoisington High School forensics team began its season at South Barber (Kiowa), where Ashley Lockwood placed first in prose and qualified for the state championship in Wichita in May. In extemporaneous speaking, Rebecca Shinofield placed third (just missing qualifying for state by one place) and Xavier Beran placed seventh.

Easter Egg Hunt to be held
ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Ellinwood City council discussed traffic flow in front of Ellinwood Grade School on Sixth Street.
This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.
