HOISINGTON - A group of concerned citizens approached the city council with a proposal to upgrade Pride Park. They would add shelters, parking, a new playground and refurbish the restrooms and basketball court, as well as add landscaping.
ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood Garden Club will host an antique and collectables show and sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 2 at St. Joseph Parish Center. Appraisals will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $2, which is good for both days.

ELLINWOOD - Step into the deeper, darker reaches of the mind at the "Fine Wine , Good Friends and a Wicked Murder" at 6 p.m. on May 31 in Ellinwood at Lone Wolf Restuarant, the event opening the weekend for the 2nd annual June Jaunt. The cost of a ticket is $20 and only 50 will be sold and are available from the Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce.
ELLINWOOD -The Ellinwood Community Historical Society made the decision to sponsor a new and different promotion of Ellinwood. Plans are to have a mural painted on the south side of the Dick Building, which is on the northwest corner of Main and Santa Fe. The mural will depict the past and present of Ellinwood. Several different styles and types of murals were submitted for study. The one chosen will have a postcard motif featuring different scenes.
HOISINGTON - Clara Barton Hospital patient rooms are now all equipped with a LED flat screen television mounted on the wall. A flat screen television in each patient room has been a goal and project of the Foundation and Auxiliary for the past several years, with these two organizations purchasing a few units each year through donations. At the end of this past year, all but five patient rooms had flat screen televisions.

ELLINWOOD - Dr. Catherine Strecker of Educational Strategies, 17 N. Main, will offer four continuing education workshops on May 31. Two CEU credits will be offered for each session.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington City Council decided at its regular meeting last week to continue the animal control options the way they currently are. The city currently takes all stray animals to the Hoisington Veterinary Hospital. The council had looked at a proposal to take care of the animals by the city as a cost saving measure, but turned it down.

ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood City Council, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, agreed to purchase 11-12 acres of property from Alfred Pohlman for $3,600. The property is located north of 7th St. It is west of Kennedy and north of the water tower.
