Employee contributions to Clara Barton Hospital Foundation's annual membership drive reached an all-time high this week with 100 employees contributing to the 2011-12 annual membership campaign.
Kansas students, including those in Hoisington's Unified School District 431, improved performance on statewide reading and mathematics assessments for the 11th straight year, according to results from the 2011 Kansas Statewide Assessments. Results showed that in the areas of reading and mathematics, there are higher percentages of students performing at the exemplary level than at any of the other four performance levels on the assessments.
HOISINGTON - Clara Barton Hospital announced that Rebecca Mauler, radiologic technologist, recently earned national credentials in ultrasound. Mauler earned credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). She is a graduate of Fort Hays State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Radiology in 2009.

ELLINWOOD - The featherless construction paper turkey at Ellinwood Grade School regained his plumage when third graders brought back to school uniquely designed feathers, each distinct with the personality of the family and child just in time for the holiday.
HOISINGTON Hoisington High School volleyball coach Tina Johnson was placed on administrative leave on Friday, Nov. 18, according to Superintendent Bill Lowry. He had no other comment.

ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Ellinwood City council discussed traffic flow in front of Ellinwood Grade School on Sixth Street.
This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.
