HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Police Department will add Tasers for police officers, the Hoisington City Council heard at its regular meeting.
The USD 431 Board of Education will have a special meeting at 7 a.m. today for KASB Dues and legal assistance, workers compensation insurance, budget reportend-of-year, Providence Safety Sweep contract, July board meeting and personnel negotiations.
The Kansas Department of Transportation will have a survey team surveying US-56/K-96 through the city of Ellinwood starting the week of July 5, to plan for possible future roadway improvements. The survey work is expected to be complete in about four months on this 1.65 mile area. KDOT asks drivers to be alert to the presence of the survey crew and drive cautiously.
HOISINGTON - Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks game wardens Brian Hanzlik of Hoisington and Phil Kirkland based out of Stafford County played an integral role in the investigation of James and Marlin Butler, two men recently convicted in a deer poaching scheme.
Trash pickup for the week of July 4 will be Tuesday and Thursday on the east side and Wednesday and Friday on the west side due to the 4th of July holiday.

ELLINWOOD - At its meeting this week, the Ellinwood District Hospital Board of Directors heard that usage of the facility and clinic is going up.
