Feelings of nostalgia overwhelm Johnita Becker's senses as she maneuvers into Art Instructor Steve Dudek's studio at Barton Community College. It's been nearly 20 years since she last set foot in the classroom, which is where she found her calling as an art teacher.

HMS basketball enjoying successful season

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Middle School boys basketball teams just put the finishing touches on a very successful first half of their season by taking on the Larned Indians in a road contest on Monday. The A team defeated Larned for the second time this season 52-39 behind a very balanced scoring attack led by Ryan Broeder with 14 points, followed by Chris Wright and Jacob Warnken with 11 each. Ellinwood Police Department monthly report

pproximately 108 calls for service and 94 Officer initiated calls were received for the month of November. Officers responded to 15 medical/fire calls and worked one non-injury accidents. Nine arrests were made and three criminal summonses were served in the month of November.

Coach Johnson resigns from USD 431

HOISINGTON - Hoisington school district volleyball coach Tina Johnson submitted her resignation from her position with the school, and the USD 431 Board of Education accepted that resignation on Monday night at its regular board meeting.

Start-Up Kansas funding awarded to business

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Main Street Inc. was awarded $45,000 through the StartUp Kansas program from Network Kansas. StartUp Kansas, launched in August of 2006, which provides funding for startups and expansions of existing businesses in rural and distressed Kansas communities in the form of matching grants and unsecured loans.
