HOISINGTON - At its last city council meeting, the Hoisington City Council approved making Kindscher's Mule Barn, 157 and 161 S. Main St. a Community Improvement District which will allow for the collection of an extra half-cent sales tax only at that location, after a public hearing.

Trash pickup for the weeks of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 will be Tuesday and Thursday for the east side and Wednesday and Friday for the west side due to the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Ellinwood School/Community Library will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 24 through Monday, Dec. 26 for the holiday weekend. The library will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 8 a.m. The library will also close for the New Year's Holiday from Saturday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan.; 2.

ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood District Hospital and Clinic will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 in observance of the holidays. Emergency services will be available.
BUSHTON - USD 112 Central Plains Middle School students spent a couple of hours last week performing plays of the six pillars of character.
BUSHTON - Central Plains Middle School named Jada Whiterock the December Student of the Month. Whiterock is the daughter of Jackie and Carol Whiterock and is in the seventh grade. Whiterock has four brothers: Josh, 15, Jaydon, 10, Brian, 8, and Charlie, 4.
ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting last Tuesday, the Ellinwood City Council approved an increase in the utility shut-off fee for non-payment effective Jan. 1. 2012.
