ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood Grade School students recently wore black to support anti-bullying. In addition, each spring semester they work on a six week course to create a positive school atmosphere.

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School and Lincoln Elementary School have recently focused on anti-bullying, according to the councilor at the school Leonard Kaiser.

HOISINGTON - Four individuals have expressed interest in becoming city council members in Ward 4, the Hoisington City Council heard Monday night. They will be interviewed at the regular Oct. 24 council meeting by the council, which meets at 7:30 p.m.

ELLINWOOD - A free estate planning seminar, sponsored by the Ellinwood Area Health Foundation, will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Ellinwood District Hospital Education Room. Morris Laing Attorneys will discuss the importance of estate planning, recent tax changes and the impact such changes have on estate planning. Seating is limited. Call 620-564-2548 to reserve a seat.

ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood School Board heard at its regular meeting this week that a local business is raising funds to donate an electronic scoreboard for the football field. The estimated cost is $16,000. The old one is from 1987 but was beginning to show its age, said Superintendent Ben Jacobs.

ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood High School Debaters Connor Birzer and Jenna Snell won the open division of the Arrowhead Invitational Tournament held at Hays High School on Sat., Oct. 8. The duo posted a 5-0 win-loss record and was the only team in the open division to have a perfect record. In the novice division, Rachel Doll and Rachel Schloctermeier also went 5-0 and placed 2nd, missing first place by only a few speaker points. In individual speaking awards, Birzer placed 4th in the open division. Doll was the top speaker out of all 78 novice debaters competing in the tournament. The ...

ELLINWOOD -The United Methodist Church women are sponsoring their 2nd Annual Delectable Delight Dessert Debut at 3 p.m. on Oct. 23 at 3 PM at the Ellinwood United Methodist Church. For $5 you may sample all the delicacies you can fit on your plate. Profits will go towards UMW missions.
