Welcome to the third edition of Marsh Musings. With this column, we hope to introduce you to a lot of new critters that you may have never seen or know little about. We will write about relevant animals for each time of the year, hopefully allowing you to be able to drive through Cheyenne Bottoms and know at least a little bit more about the animals you are seeing. The good news is, with over 400 different species of animals at the Bottoms, we have plenty to write about and share with you!
There will be bingo following the 6 p.m. finger food supper at the Heritage Club tonight. All senior citizens are invited.
HOISINGTON - The City of Hoisington opened its discussion of sidewalk ordinances.
HOISINGTON - Living Joy Community Church, 354 W. 1st will offer David Ramsey's Financial Peace University class at 7 p.m. beginning Aug. 14 for 13 weeks.
HOISINGTON - Barton County Extension Agent Donna Krug and Rena Barrett held a class in Hoisington on new ways to cook fresh vegetables.
LORRAINE - There will be a hog feed and street dance starting at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 in Lorraine on Main Street to raise money for a new fire station. The band will be "The Classics, and the cost is a free will donation.
HOISINGTON - The word is out – Bruce Bitter of B&B Metal Arts was chosen to create the World Trade Center memorials to be placed in seven Kansas airports to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Summer Recreation will bring live entertainment to the stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Hoisington High School auditorium with the play "The Lion Who Wouldn't" starring participants in the rec program.

Easter Egg Hunt to be held
ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Ellinwood City council discussed traffic flow in front of Ellinwood Grade School on Sixth Street.
This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.

ELLINWOOD - A breakfast/brunch fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on April 13 at St. Joseph Parish Center in Ellinwood. A free will offering will be taken with proceeds going towards St. Joseph High School PSR mission trip.
