HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School teacher Tamera Irvin has been nominated for the "Kansas Teacher of the Year."
ELLINWOOD - America's Promise, in collaboration with the Great Bend Airport Young Eagles Club, celebrated the end-of-the-year with the Fly Day earlier this year. Four grade school students from Ellinwood have taken part of America's Promise program throughout the year.

HOISINGTON - Members of the Hoisington High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter will be traveling to the national meeting in Anaheim, Calif. on July 9-14. Those attending will be Drew Reisner, Kayla Reisner and Rondi Denning along with advisor Karla Reisner.
The regular May Ellinwood Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. on May 18. Items on the agenda include a budget update, the Parents as Teachers Program, the fee schedule (first read), and the permanent Eagle logo. Also included are supplemental contracts.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Cardinal Forensics Team wrapped up its 2011 season with two medalists at state competition, held May 7 at East High School in Wichita.
TOPEKA - On April 1, the state of Kansas formally declared the month of April as Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month.

HOISINGTON -At the recent Central Prairie League Forensics Tournament at Otis-Bison, seven Hoisington High School forensics students made it into finals, and five of them qualified for the State Championship. The team finished third out of eleven schools.

HOISINGTON - Superior Essex of Hoisington is announced the latest recipient of the STAR Employee Recognition Award. Kent Schremmer, scrap operator, was named the first quarter 2014 STAR Employee and will be treated to a dinner in his honor, a customized gift pack, a plaque, and STAR Employee parking privileges.
Each nine weeks Hoisington Middle School faculty and staff choose students who have shown leadership throughout the school. This can include being respectful to adults and students, improving in grades, being helpful in and out of the classroom and just showing leadership qualities. To promote these qualities, students participated in a Leadership Luncheon on March 24th.
