Ellinwood VFW Auxiliary

The Ellinwood VFW Auxiliary held its monthly meeting on April 18. Among the discussions were donations to Kansas Women Veterans, poppy sales, Memorial Day services and a donation of a flag and stand to Horizon, which is a church camp. The newly officers elected are Marlea Callahan, president, Jean Peter, senior vice president, Vada Yarmer, junior vice president, Diane Hill, secretary/treasurer, Lorraine Rickert, chaplain, Ruth Hill, conductress, Vi Eggers, guard, Ruth Hill, historian, Lorraine Rickert, patriotic instructor. Callahan attended the 7th District Convention in Lyons on April 17 with 7th District President Diane Hill.

Hoisington holds Honor Banquet

HOISINGTON - USD 431 Superintendent Bill Lowry opened the district's honors banquet awards ceremony by saying that he was very proud of the students and their accomplishments. Nineteen students were recognized for having a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

Becker Tire to close Hoisington operation

The Hoisington location of the Great Bend-based Becker Tire will no longer be operating at the close of business on Wednesday, Becker Tire Executive Vice-president Steve Burhenn said.
