The Ellinwood Historical Society will hold its annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 24. The cost is $10 per person and will be held at the Heritage Center, 103 N. Main.
HOISINGTION - The Hoisington Chamber of Commerce celebrated it's annual banquet on Saturday, announcing the Citizens of the Year, Duane and Debbie Reif, and recognizing them for their work with Kans for Kids.
HOISINGTON - Earlier this month, the Hoisington High School KAY Club held a "Can a Teacher Day." Each class brought canned goods to fill in a space the size of a classroom door. If the class brought in enough canned goods to completely fill the area, they were allowed to "can" the teacher and skip their class for the day. Each class selected a teacher who agreed to the terms. The following classes chose these teachers: senior class, Mike Richter; junior class, Carrie Fiest; sophomore class, Bruce Cooper; and the freshman class, London Reif.
The Kansas Board of Accountancy has announced that 90 candidates successfully passed the computerized examination in the October/November 2010 exam window.
CLAFLIN - The Claflin after-prom committee is sponsoring a soup supper at 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Claflin Jr./Sr. High School cafeteria.

ELLINWOOD- In celebration of Catholic Schools Week, St. Joseph Catholic School in Ellinwood held a full week of activities. In addition, the school is celebrating 125 years of education.
HOISINGTON - The Barton County Extension Council will host the 2011 Kansas State University Ag Profitability Conference on Feb. 16 at the Knights of Columbus in Hoisington. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A noon lunch will be served. The cost for the conference is $5 if registered by Feb. 7, $10 if registered by Feb. 14 and $15 at the door. Register at the Barton County Extension Office or call 620-793-1910.
HOISINGTON - Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington has named, Curt Colson, as its new president and chief executive officer. A come-and-go welcome reception will be held on Feb. 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Turnbull Safe Room. All are invited to come and meet Colson.
