ELLINWOOD - Amy Metro has been rehired by Unified School District 355, Ellinwood, as a part-time kindergarten teacher beginning Feb. 1, the school board decided at its regular meeting on Monday. She will work in the afternoon.
LORRAINE - After serving for one year, the seats of the Central Plains USD 112 interim school board will be up for election on April 5, and the elected members will take office July 1. The filing deadline is Jan. 25.
HOISINGTON - The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the CBH Turnbull Safe Room.
ELLINWOOD - Nurses who need access to affordable health insurance or who can't afford to keep theirs under COBRA after losing their jobs can find relief from the Independent Nurses Association.
CLAFLIN - Last month Clalfin Emergency Services personnel were dispatched for: four fall victims, two cardiac arrests, a patient who had a seizure, an asthma patient, a basketball injury, an injury auto accident and an inter-hospital transfer.
USD 112 to meet
CHEYENNE BOTTOMS - Twenty-six Hoisington High School art students had the opportunity to visit the Kansas Wetlands Education Center at Cheyenne Bottoms on Thursday to study art in nature, and the ceramic display by Fort Hays State University students.
ELLINWOOD - A benefit auction will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 12 to benefit the Sts. Peter and Paul Church steeple/bell tower project at the Barton County 4-H building.
HOISINGTON - Officer Allie is retiring after a long and productive law enforcement career. Her bosses hope to find a replacement that's equally skilled at tracking bad guys, finding hidden evidence and greeting hundreds of school kids with a wildly wagging tail.
HOISINGTON - In a joint meeting of the USD 431 school board and the Hoisington City Council, Christina Hayes, prevention consultant for the Regional Prevention Center of NWKS, presented data to the boards and approximately 60 patrons on the Communities that Care survey data which shows that Barton County teens have higher than state averages in alcohol use and cigarette use.
