ELLINWOOD - As an act of kindness, the Twilight Stitchers Club in Ellinwood decided to use their talents for sewing and make dresses for poverty-stricken girls in Africa.
This weekend Ellinwood High School will be having prom at St. Joseph Parish Center. It is the Ellinwood Police Departments hope that everyone who chooses to attend prom has a very good time. My main concern is what will occur after prom. I have been informed that there are no plans to have an after-prom party at the Ellinwood Grade School as there has been in past years. I have also been informed, at least the rumor mill has stated, that there is the real possibility of some under-age drinking parties occurring due to there not being an after-prom party.
ELLINWOOD - Five Ellinwood High School stsudent and sponsor Lorie Betts will be attending the national Future Business Leaders of America conference in Florida for winning competitions at the state conference earlier this year in Topeka, the USD 355 school board heard at its meeting on Monday night.
The Ellinwood City Council will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today. In old business, there will be a public hearing on 106 E. B St., a special purpose vehicle, and the 414 E. 4th demolition bid.

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington School Board met at its regular meeting on Monday, and adopted a resolution regarding a 'suitable' education and is seeking input from the community on what a suitable education is. The Kansas Constitution requires that students be provided a 'suitable' education.
HOISINGTON - April 12 is D.E.A.R. Day. D.E.A.R. is an acronym for Drop Everything And Read. For this nationwide day the Hoisington Middle School KAYs and the Title I Reading program decided to host an event that would promote literacy. HOISINGTON -At the recent Central Prairie League Forensics Tournament at Otis-Bison, seven Hoisington High School forensics students made it into finals, and five of them qualified for the State Championship. The team finished third out of eleven schools.
