The Hoisington High School Student Council will sponsor a powder puff Football game Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Elton Brown Field.
Barton County Upward Bound at Barton Community College recognizes Robert Fortner Hoisington High School, Kade Cook, HHS and Kimberly Dixon Claflin High School who competed in the national 2010 TRIO Quest activities sponsored by the University of Washington. These students were named semi-finalists for their PhotoEssays. Dixon won a "Best of Contest" medal for her PhotoEssay entry, titled "Eyes."
ELLINWOOD- Barton County Health Department will be providing a special Vote and Vax Flu Clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the St. Joseph Parish Center in Ellinwood from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Area residents will be able to get their flu shot and take the opportunity to vote in the general election at the same location and the same time.

October's program meeting at the Barton County Historical Society Museum & Village will feature "Great Bend Past," a presentation by Karen Neuforth. The public is welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Museum & Village, just across the bridge, south of Great Bend on U.S. Hwy. 281.

Easter Egg Hunt to be held
ELLINWOOD - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Ellinwood City council discussed traffic flow in front of Ellinwood Grade School on Sixth Street.
This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.
