OISINGTON - Clara Barton Hospital was recently awarded grant monies by Kansas Department of Health and Environment to support injury prevention in the geriatric community members. They have teamed up with other partner agencies to focus on the reduction of in home falls. The grant funds allow for the purchase of bathroom assist devices (bathroom bars and stool risers), providing money for the hardware.

ELLINWOOD - Long-time Ellinwood resident Katie DeWerff moved to Haiti in June and works full-time as an administrator in the Project Pep La camp, which is a 20,000 person tent camps. They emphasize a hand-up not a hand-out, trying to teach spiritual values along the way.

HOISINGTON -At the recent Central Prairie League Forensics Tournament at Otis-Bison, seven Hoisington High School forensics students made it into finals, and five of them qualified for the State Championship. The team finished third out of eleven schools.

HOISINGTON - Superior Essex of Hoisington is announced the latest recipient of the STAR Employee Recognition Award. Kent Schremmer, scrap operator, was named the first quarter 2014 STAR Employee and will be treated to a dinner in his honor, a customized gift pack, a plaque, and STAR Employee parking privileges.
Each nine weeks Hoisington Middle School faculty and staff choose students who have shown leadership throughout the school. This can include being respectful to adults and students, improving in grades, being helpful in and out of the classroom and just showing leadership qualities. HOISINGTON - Three Hoisington High School students traveled to Larned for the regional solo and ensemble festival on March 29.
