There is an old saying "all good things must come to an end." That is exactly what happened to the one-room schools in Kansas when the children ran out the door for the last time. Emotions trailed after them as people in these communities mourned the loss of their tiny schools.
CLAFLIN - The USD 112 Interim Board of Education met on Sept. 13. at the Quivira Heights Elementary/Junior High School Library for the September board meeting. Board members present were Bert Besthorn, Dawn Dolezal, Ron Etchison, Cherlyn Maier, Alan Siemer, Malcolm Shaw and Jim Vance.
ELLINWOOD - It was a warm, breezy day with the fountains bubbling and the creek flowing. It was an ideal day for golfing as the chosen few participated in miniature golf on Sept. 16 at Walnut Bowl. Mark Bretches school liaison of the Great Bend Police Dept. shared the excitement of the fun activities to come.
