ELLINWOOD -Ellinwood School first grade teachers Linda Duncan and Katie Hook, received a grant for $200 to buy materials for a program where first graders go to the ELllinwood Country Living and do a project with the seniors.
Hoisington Community Development Inc. has been awarded a $5,000 loan at 1 percent interest from Hoisington Main Street Inc.'s Revolving Loan Fund. The loan is for the addition of an ADA restroom and ceiling repairs at 157 S. Main.
ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood Country Living gave visitors a glimpse of an option for long term nursing care during a community-wide open house on Dec. 3. They served snacks while getting a tour of the eight-bedroom home, located in the heart of Ellinwood.
HOLYROOD - DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) culmination for the Central Plains Elementary School 5th graders took place on Monday, after 11 weeks of classroom education. Barton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brad Patzner instructed 24 students from Lisa Ryan and Kara Potter's classes.

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Middle School boys basketball teams just put the finishing touches on a very successful first half of their season by taking on the Larned Indians in a road contest on Monday. The A team defeated Larned for the second time this season 52-39 behind a very balanced scoring attack led by Ryan Broeder with 14 points, followed by Chris Wright and Jacob Warnken with 11 each. pproximately 108 calls for service and 94 Officer initiated calls were received for the month of November. Officers responded to 15 medical/fire calls and worked one non-injury accidents. Nine arrests were made and three criminal summonses were served in the month of November.
