EHS students attend Smoky Hills Wind Festival

ELLINWOOD - Eleven EHS band students attended the Smoky Hills Wind Festival at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina on Jan. 28 and 29. Band director Don Regehr and sponsor Annette Troyer accompanied the students to the clinic. The festival was lead by William McMosley, director of bands at KWU.

ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood City Council heard at its meeting on Tuesday that Ellinwood will be on the route of a 150th-anniversary cattle drive.

HMS wrestlers place in tournament

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Middle School wrestlers took part in the Hays Kennedy Middle School Invitational this past Saturday, and had a very good showing for the teams' first match of the year. The team placed 10 out of 13 varsity wrestlers in the top four, and three out of four placed in the top three for the junior varsity.

EHS Forensics team places third

The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team earned a third place team sweepstakes trophy in a 13-team meet at Sterling on Feb. 5. Every EHS student competing in the meet placed in the top six.

HOISINGTON - Earlier this month, the Hoisington High School KAY Club held a "Can a Teacher Day." Each class brought canned goods to fill in a space the size of a classroom door. If the class brought in enough canned goods to completely fill the area, they were allowed to "can" the teacher and skip their class for the day. ELLINWOOD - At its regular monthly meeting, the USD 355 school board made two appointments to the new Ellinwood Recreation Commission Board of Directors.
