ELLINWOOD - Chad Langen, current Ellinwood resident has transitioned his love for writing stories to writing reviews of movies on his website Cinema Blaze, which gets thousands of hits per month.
ELLINWOOD - Over 200 people attended the successful Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on Friday, capping off a year of new programs, changes and initiatives at Lone Wolf Restuarant.
"Everybody's talking at parties about the tunnels in Ellinwood," said Miss Sally Wolf, the mannequin at the Wolf Hotel. "I'd like to be able to join in. I've never seem them."
The Ellinwood School\Community Library was recently honored as one of four runner-up finalists for the 2013 AWE, Inc. Literacy Success Award. Ellinwood was nominated for their pre-school and emergent-reader initiative called the AWESOME Club, a literacy engagement program that encourages children ages 2-6 and their families to participate in various literacy activities.

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Main Street Inc. will once again host a romantic Valentine's Day Dinner for couples beginning at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Knights of Columbus, 114 N. Main. The evening will be highlighted with a chance for couples to renew their wedding vows.
ELLINWOOD -The Ellinwood Middle School and High School Bands will be holding the annual Chicken Noodle Dinner on Sunday, Feb.9, in the Ellinwood High School Commons Area. Enter through the main entrance at 300 N. Schiller or from the parking lot on the west side of the building. The dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood Grade School second grader Taylor Poteet was unaware that the picture he drew was chosen from among thousands of entries as runner-up for the 15th annual "Kansas Don't Spoil It" calendar contest.
ELLINWOOD - A breakfast/brunch fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on April 13 at St. Joseph Parish Center in Ellinwood. A free will offering will be taken with proceeds going towards St. Joseph High School PSR mission trip.
HOISINGTON - At the Hoisington School Board meeting on Monday, the school board heard preliminary plans for separating the Hoisington Middle School Library into two rooms.
CLAFLIN - The Claflin Independent Township Library will celebrate National Library Week, April 14-19, showcasing the new copies of micro film of historic Claflin Clarion, Claflin Gazette and Claflin Banner newspapers and having an open house.
TOPEKA - On April 1, the state of Kansas formally declared the month of April as Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month.
