ELLINWOOD - Four juveniles were apprehended in Ellinwood for shooting out car windows Monday between 6-8 p.m., according to Ellinwood Police Chief Art Keffer. There are 11 reported cases at press time from within the city limits.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington City Council approved two new water wells for the Hoisington Recreation Commission for the Legion Field and softball diamond at Bicentennial Park at its regular meeting on Monday.
HOISINGTON -The Hoisington Swinging Stars will host a square dance at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Hoisington city auditorium at 1st and Main Streets in Hoisington.
PAWNEE ROCK - The Hoisington High School Student Council recently spent the day at Praise Ranch in Pawnee Rock in a service learning project. Twelve students and Principal Meg Wilson assisted with clean up of the gymnasium at the old Pawnee Rock Elementary School.

HOISINGTON - At its regular meeting on Monday, the USD 431 heard a report from board member Deb Stephens on a new K-6 after school program which, she said, "is a desperate need in the community." It would be held at the Hoisington United Methodist Church on school evenings until 6:30 p.m.

HOISINGTON - The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation, in partnership with Clara Barton Hospital, is conducting a capital campaign to raise funds for an expansion project. The campaign started off with a bang over the last few weeks as the staff completed their "Building Together… Caring for Life" Employee Campaign.
ELLINWOOD - USD 355 Ellinwood School Board approved in a special meeting, a new track, bleachers and fencing at the high school football field. Construction is projected to start the last day of track season and last all summer with a finish date of Sept. 1 in time for football season.
HOISINGTON - The city of Hoisington has received complaints about trash polycarts being left on the street long after trash pickup days, and, as a result is considering new rules.

ELLINWOOD -The Ellinwood School/Community Library is excited to welcome national award winning author Cynthia Kadohata to the Ellinwood library for a series of events during the first week of March. The schedule of events includes presentations to student groups, student book signings, and question and answer sessions on Wednesday, March 5th.
Approximately 121 calls for service and 112 officer initiated calls were received for the month of January. Officers responded to 11 medical/fire calls. Ten arrests were made and four criminal summonses were served in the month of January.
CLAFLIN - The Claflin Fitness Center, which was established by volunteers in 2013, has added classes and is making plans for further improvements to the facility.
Legislative coffee to be held
ELLINWOOD - Ellinwood School District USD 355 will begin implementing its iPad student initiative with a partial rollout for the last quarter of the school year for 5th and 12th graders and a full roll-out from k-12 this fall.
The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is currently seeking applicants for their 2014 healthcare career scholarships. Each year the Foundation desires to present several individuals with scholarships. Scholarship amount varies with the merits of the application and funds available from the endowments. The four scholarships to be awarded are: Jonathan Witt Scholarship, Sadie Stalcup Scholarship, Verda Lane Nursing Scholarship and Dr. Robert Moore Scholarship. Application deadline for all scholarships is April 1, 2014.
