ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team placed first in team sweepstakes in a 19-team meet held at Kiowa County High School in Greensburg on Feb. 19. The team earned first-place trophies two weekends in a row, having also placed first at Southeast of Saline in February.

LLINWOOD - Jim Gray, who is the founder of the Cowboy Society, and a speaker for the Kansas Humanities Council, began his presentation at the Ellinwood Community Historical Society annual meeting by saying "A lot of the stuff in movies, isn't exactly right but it makes good stories. USD 355 has a new MS/HS principal for the upcoming school year. Shawn Henderson is currently the band instructor at Scott Community High School. Shawn and his wife Marie have two children, Mallory,7, and Nate, 5. The family enjoys being actively involved in their community. They also enjoy performing and singing/playing music together. The 2013 scholarship recipients are Stephanie Troyer who will be majoring in Music Education and attending Barton Community College.
