For about 15 years, those who like to launch model rockets come from throughout the state and even from out-of-state to launch rockets
HOISINGTON - The City of Hoisington at its regular meeting on Monday, approved three engineering finalists to interview for reworking the community's sewage lagoons. The lagoons were found to be deficient by the Environmental Protection Agency because of short circuiting of lagoon waters.

CLAFLIN -The governing body of the City of Claflin met in regular session, at 7 p.m. on Monday February 10 in the city building. Present were: Mayor Michael Urban, Councilpersons Kirk Schneweis, Doug Hubbard, Kelly Nixon, Dan Michaelis and Casey Hubbard. Also present: City Attorney Robert Suelter, City Clerk Patricia Schmidt, Robert Gunder, Pat Schneweis, Joyce Mooney and Curtis Wolf.
HOISINGTON -The Hoisington High School forensics team began its season at South Barber (Kiowa), where Ashley Lockwood placed first in prose and qualified for the state championship in Wichita in May. In extemporaneous speaking, Rebecca Shinofield placed third (just missing qualifying for state by one place) and Xavier Beran placed seventh.
ELLINWOOD - Coming to Kansas from the Denver-metro area, Kyle Chamberlin enjoys the friendliness of the smaller community in Ellinwood after his move in January. Also a plus for the former senior recreation specialist at the Aurora, Colo. Recreation Department where he spent a five-and-a-half years, is less time spent on the road commuting.
ELLINWOOD - With at comfortable and family friendly atmosphere, the beautifully decorated Fire Escape Coffee House, in downtown Ellinwood, has reopened as a community gathering place for all ages. The shop serves regular coffee as well as specialty drinks and snacks, all staffed by volunteers.

This has been a very exciting week. I have enjoyed my five Canadian friends who come almost every year to hunt turkeys with their traditional archery equipment. They got three turkeys and departed on Thursday. Being up by 4:30 a.m. to get coffee and head out for 10 days in a row gives us time to re-affirm our friendship.

HOISINGTON - At the Hoisington School Board meeting on Monday, the school board heard preliminary plans for separating the Hoisington Middle School Library into two rooms.
