ELLINWOOD -The Ellinwood Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts will be hosting a fundraiser through the GoodThrift project to raise money for the Ellinwood troops.
BARTON COUNTY - Members of the local RV Club, Cowboy Sam, load up their rigs every third weekend of the spring and summer months and travel to destinations around the state, enjoying the company of good friends and good food.
On April 12, Hoisington High School hosted a Red Cross blood drive. Over 60 students, faculty, staff, and community members went through the process of donating. Out of the 60 plus people that came in to donate, the Red Cross received 54 good units of blood. The goal for the Hoisington High School and Community was 41 units of blood. The Hoisington community has not hit their goal in over a year.

A series of public meetings for Quivira National Wildlife Refuge are scheduled for three area communities. Quivira has completed a draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan for public review. The goal of the Plan, or CCP, is to provide guidance and management direction for all Refuge programs for the next 15 years. It includes a vision statement and supporting goals, objectives, and strategies.

Approximately 75 calls for service and 86 officer initiated calls were received for the month of March. Officers responded to eight medical/fire calls. Eight arrests were made and five criminal summonses were served in the month of March.
