ELLINWOOD - The USD 355 School District approved Chad Petz to the Ellinwood Recreation Board for four years at its regular meeting last week. Steve Billinger and Bob Baker interviewed three candidates for the position. They presented their recommendation of Chad Petz to the Board, according to the unofficial minutes.
HOISINGTON -The Hoisington City Council on Monday met in regular session with the following present: Mayor Williamson, Councilmembers: Donovan, Farmer, Aylward, Sekavec, Andereck, VanBrimmer, Smith and Wilborn. Also present: City Attorney Horner, City Manager Mitchell and City Clerk Crutcher.
ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood Rotary Club in cooperation with the Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce is accepting entries for the After Harvest Festival on July 19. The theme chosen is "We put the Heart in the Heartland." They encourage participants to incorporate the theme into their entry.
CLAFLIN - The Community Scholarship, Inc. of Claflin awarded scholarships to nineteen graduates and nine alumni at the Central Plains High School on May 18, 2014. Many donors, alumni and organizations made it possible to award $32,113.00 to the graduates to help with their college expenses.
HOISINGTON - Walking or riding a bike is a healthy, wholesome activity, and students walking to and from school gives kids great outdoor exercise. USD 431 Hoisington School District has received a $10,000 grant for a Walking School Bus for the next school year. A Walking School Bus, where a parents walks with the kids to and from school, is one of the latest initiatives to get kids outside and combat obesity.
