Essex names Star Employee

CPMS Renaissance council

BUSHTON - The Central Plains Middle School Renaissance council celebrated a successful first quarter on Thursday, Oct. 27. All students who were passing all classes with a C or higher and had not been referred to the office more than one time throughout the first nine weeks were eligible to attend. Ninety-one percent of all 6-8 grade students achieved this Renaissance goal and got to enjoy an afternoon off from classes with movies and popcorn.

Red ribbon week at EGS

ELLINWOOD -Ellinwood Grade School has just completed another very successful and fun week in observance of Red Ribbon Week. Guidance lessons over the past month have focused on drug and alcohol prevention. Clara Barton Medical Clinic welcomes new physician assistant, Cassandra Montoya

HOISINGTON - Clara Barton Medical Clinic welcomes Cassandra Montoya, PA-C. Her specialty is family medicine. Cassandra received her Physician Assistant degree at Wichita State University on July 29, 2011. She completed her undergraduate work at Kansas State University on Dec. 13, 2008, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

CBH finishes 25th in pink glove dance

HOISINGTON - Voting was close between Clara Barton Hospital and Clinic Pink Glove and Pinehurst, N.C. on Oct. 10 when Clara Barton Hospital and Clinic rallied enough votes on Facebook to take over the 28th spot early in the National Pink Glove Video Contest.

USD 355 board taking steps for iPad initiative

ELLINWOOD - The USD 355 School Board, at its regular meeting Monday night, agreed to take another step in the iPad initiate. Currently, about twenty percent of the certified staff have iPads. The board agreed to buy approximately 30 more so that the remaining staff would have an iPad.

School board makes appointments

ELLINWOOD - At its regular monthly meeting, the USD 355 school board made two appointments to the new Ellinwood Recreation Commission Board of Directors. They were Mel Waite for four years, and Rob Fisher for one year. The ERC will soon begin planning a budget, hiring a director, and making plans for 2014.

Ellinwood Rotary announces theme for AHF Parade

HMS performs School Daze

HOISINGTON -On April 29 and April 30, the Hoisington Middle School vocal group performed its play "School Daze" at Roosevelt and Lincoln Elementary Schools. The vocal group is made up of 7th and 8th grade students from Hoisington Middle School.

School bell rings the last time for two retiring teachers
