ELLINWOOD - USD 355 Ellinwood Board of Education has purchased property, 901 E. Santa Fe, in Ellinwood to begin building a bus barn. The property was purchased from the City of Ellinwood for $15,000 and dirt work is done, the BOE heard at its regular meeting.
The 3rd annual Kans for Kids Golf Tournament was another outstanding success for the organization. There were 24 teams and 96 golfers that participated in the tournament as they opened their hearts for four Barton County boys living with childhood cancer.

John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
