Hoisington receives grant

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington City Council accepted by consensus a hazard mitigation grant to digitize mapping of the electric utility as a part of its regular meeting last week. The mapping project will cost $17,380.35 of which the grant from FEMA pays 70 percent. The city will pick up the remaining cost.

Ellinwood receives grant

ELLINWOOD - In a short city council meeting last Tuesday, City Administrator Robert Peter reported that Emergency Medical Services received a grant to purchase a second defibrillator. The grant will pay around $26,577 and the city will pay the remainder of $8,858.

Hoisington preschool enrollment to be held

Preschool pre-enrollment will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on April 23 for the 2012-13 school year at Roosevelt Elementary for USD 431.

Ellinwood Police Department Monthly Report for March 2012

Approximately 104 calls for service and 154 Officer initiated calls were received for the month of March. Officers responded to 19 medical/fire calls and worked two non-injury accidents. Thirteen arrests were made and 19 criminal summonses were served in the month of March.

This edition of Marsh Musings is different from all previous editions. A couple of major changes have occurred. Eric Giesing, my cohort in this endeavor, has taken another job. He is going to work for a promote their pharmaceutical company. He is thrilled at the opportunity, and sad to leave KWEC. HMS KAYs to host Book Fair

HOISINGTON -D.E.A.R. Day is April 12. The acronym stands for Drop Everything And Read. The Hoisington Middle School KAYs will be sponsoring a book fair at the Hoisington Activity Center, 1200 Susank Rd., to celebrate the day.
