ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood After Prom Parents will be selling walking tacos at the Ellinwood vs. Hoisington home basketball games on Friday, Jan.13 beginning at 5 p.m. Support the group in providing a fun and safe after prom for Ellinwood High School students.
CLAFLIN - The USD 112 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. at Claflin High School.
BARTON COUNTY - It is already time to begin thinking about city council elections in Ellinwood and Hoisington on April 3. Claflin does not have any open council positions for the upcoming elections, according to the city.
ELLINWOOD - Learning of pyramids, and Africa and the Great Sphinx, sixth graders at Ellinwood Grade School also dissected frogs to learn the mummification process used by the ancient Egyptians.

HOISINGTON - Flu Season is upon us and the best way to prevent the flu is through annual flu immunization. In 2010, the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative started a four-year campaign to increase the number of hospital health care workers receiving annual influenza immunizations as a part of the effort to decrease health care associated infections.

ELLINWOOD - A breakfast/brunch fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on April 13 at St. Joseph Parish Center in Ellinwood. A free will offering will be taken with proceeds going towards St. Joseph High School PSR mission trip.
HOISINGTON - At the Hoisington School Board meeting on Monday, the school board heard preliminary plans for separating the Hoisington Middle School Library into two rooms.
CLAFLIN - The Claflin Independent Township Library will celebrate National Library Week, April 14-19, showcasing the new copies of micro film of historic Claflin Clarion, Claflin Gazette and Claflin Banner newspapers and having an open house.
TOPEKA - On April 1, the state of Kansas formally declared the month of April as Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month.

HOISINGTON -At the recent Central Prairie League Forensics Tournament at Otis-Bison, seven Hoisington High School forensics students made it into finals, and five of them qualified for the State Championship. The team finished third out of eleven schools.
