Rotary Club to hold Irish Stew fundraiser

Claflin Fire Department reports news for Feb.

Last month, Claflin EMS personnel were dispatched for: a possible stroke, an injury auto accident, a fall victim and a patient that was injured in a home accident.

City to change special purpose vehicle registration fee

ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood City Council voted Tuesday evening to change the golf cart and special purpose vehicle registration fee. The city changed the vehicle registration and proof of insurance to a one-time fee and showing of insurance, instead of annually.

Board hears community strategic planning report

HOISINGTON - The USD 431 Comprehensive Planning Committee, which were citizens of Hoisington appointed by school board members, met earlier this April to discuss strengths and weaknesses of USD 431, at a meeting facilitated by Kansas Association of School Board Deputy Director Dr. Doug Moeckel. They presented their ideas to the school board on Monday night.

John Carmon Ellison 1955-2013

John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
