KSU Ag Profitability Conference to be held in Hoisington

HOISINGTON - The Barton County Extension Council will host the 2011 Kansas State University Ag Profitability Conference on Feb. 16 at the Knights of Columbus in Hoisington. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A noon lunch will be served. The cost for the conference is $5 if registered by Feb. 7, $10 if registered by Feb. 14 and $15 at the door. Register at the Barton County Extension Office or call 620-793-1910.

Colson named to CBH position

HOISINGTON - Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington has named, Curt Colson, as its new president and chief executive officer. A come-and-go welcome reception will be held on Feb. 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Turnbull Safe Room. All are invited to come and meet Colson.

HMS celebrates Kansas Day

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School students celebrated Kansas Day with a couple of hands-on activities. The first activity was making homemade whole-wheat yeast rolls for the entire student body. Students from Susan Lowry's and Tina Johnson's classes made four batches of yeast rolls.

School bell rings the last time for two retiring teachers

HOISINGTON - Touching the lives and improving the minds of over a 1,000 children after three decades of service, USD 431 teachers Darla Clark and Becky Andereck will close the last book bags of their careers this month. Both began and ended their service in Hoisington.
