HOISINGTON - The Barton County Extension Council will host the 2011 Kansas State University Ag Profitability Conference on Feb. 16 at the Knights of Columbus in Hoisington. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the program runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A noon lunch will be served. HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School students celebrated Kansas Day with a couple of hands-on activities. The first activity was making homemade whole-wheat yeast rolls for the entire student body. Students from Susan Lowry's and Tina Johnson's classes made four batches of yeast rolls.
CLAFLIN - Studying the lives of bees, along with other creatures, Claflin Elementary School students learned all about Kansas state facts from the educators at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center on Thursday last week.

HOISINGTON - Touching the lives and improving the minds of over a 1,000 children after three decades of service, USD 431 teachers Darla Clark and Becky Andereck will close the last book bags of their careers this month. Both began and ended their service in Hoisington.
