ELLINWOOD - Amy Metro has been rehired by Unified School District 355, Ellinwood, as a part-time kindergarten teacher beginning Feb. 1, the school board decided at its regular meeting on Monday. She will work in the afternoon.

USD 431 and City Council hear data on teen drinnking

HOISINGTON - In a joint meeting of the USD 431 school board and the Hoisington City Council, Christina Hayes, prevention consultant for the Regional Prevention Center of NWKS, presented data to the boards and approximately 60 patrons on the Communities that Care survey data which shows that Barton County teens have higher than state averages in alcohol use and cigarette use.

Blood drive to honor coordinator

HOISINGTON -A commemorative blood drive will be held in honor of Nancy Farmer, long-time coordinator of the Hoisington Community Blood Drive on Monday, from 2:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hoisington Activity Center, 1200 Susank Road. ELLINWOOD - The Six Pack Volleyball Club finished their long season with not one, or two, but three of their teams on the top of the region that spans from Goodland, to Liberal, to Kearney, to St. Louis.

CPHS yearbook staff has success at competition

CLAFLIN - The Central Plains High School Pipeline Yearbook staff had a successful state competition. All five members of the staff received recognition for their work at the Kansas Scholastic Press Association's State Contest in Lawrence this past weekend.

ELLINWOOD - The criterion for the Alan Fullbright Scholarship are a reflection of what was significant in Alan Fullbright's life. The 2013 scholarship recipients are Stephanie Troyer who will be majoring in Music Education and attending Barton Community College. She has held several offices in KAY, FBLA, International Club and was the Student Council secretary and vice president of her class.
