Legislative forums scheduled Saturday

Representative Mitch Holmes and Senator Allen Schmidt have scheduled a pair of Legislative Forums Saturday at Larned and Rozel. The Larned Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Legislative Forum from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m at 502 Broadway in Larned. Coffee and donuts will be provided. For information, call (620) 285-6916. The Pawnee County Farm Bureau Legislative Coffee is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the Rozel community Center in Rozel. Coffee and rolls will be provided. For more information call (620) 804-2677.

Larned man sentenced for vehicular homicide case

LARNED - A Pawnee County judge ruled a Larned man convicted of two counts of vehicular homicide will have to pay restitution for burial expenses, serve 12 months on house arrest, serve 24 months probation and work 1,000 hours of community service. Buckley entered a guilty plea to the charges November 30, 2011.

Convicted robber gets 130-month prison sentence

LARNED - James W. Cawley, 33, was sentenced to the standard prison term of 130 months after the defendant's request for a reduced sentence on a robbery conviction was denied by Pawnee County District Judge Bruce Gatterman Thursday in Pawnee County District Court.

Larned football competes in Manhattan

Larned High School football coach A.B. Stokes will be joined by assistant coaches Tad Remy, Mike Hensley, Carl Nolan and Jacob Tapia for the 2015 season. Former assistant Austin Kingsbury left to be the head football coach at Concordia and assistant Quinton Burgess also departed. Larned's football team competed at seven-on-seven tournament at Kansas State University recently. Larned has competed at Kansas State University for several years.
