2011 Pawnee County Fair Schedule
LARNED - Camp Pawnee and the Fort Larned National Historic Site would improve access for pedestrians and cyclists under a $2.6 million grant application for a proposed Pawnee Valley Community Trail Project.
LARNED - Improving diets and increasing physical activity has been a major focus of the Larned Pride program.
LARNED - Pride programs in Larned and Stafford earned special recognition during a Kansas Pride Day recently at the Larned Community Garden. Honorees each received a plaque from the state Pride program on behalf of its local Pride organization.
LARNED - The Larned Chamber of Commerce and Pawnee County Economic Development Commission celebrated a year of success at its annual banquet Thursday at the Larned Community Center. Voting for the Employee and Business of the Year was done by Chamber members.
LARNED - The OPI Print and Copy Center golf team from Great Bend reigned supreme in the Fort Larned Foundation for Education golf tournament.
LARNED - The Santa Fe Trail Center will offer a special presentation on Caring for Your Keepsakes at the Trail Center's auditorium at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19.
The Pawnee County Humane Society will sponsor an Adoption Fair from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Great Bend Orscheln Farm and Home Supply and during Orscheln's Moonlight Madness event at 5320 11th Streer.

Activities June 12-18
The Kansas Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin an asphalt construction project in Pawnee County Thursday morning. Work will be done on the surface of U.S. 183, between the intersection with U.S. 56 and the intersection with K-156 Highway.
LARNED - Thanks to a fundraiser sponsored by the Pawnee Valley Medical Associates and Pawnee Valley Sport & Spine Physical Therapy, the Larned school district will be able to buy new football helmets.
LARNED – Participating in Miss Fort Larned for Courtney Towery was similar to her work in Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Trunk-or-Treat was held at Northside Elementary school Wednesday afternoon. The Larned Indian football team and Larned High cheerleaders handed out candy to the students at the end of school. Cheerleaders and the booster club will hand out candy to the students who are dressed for Halloween tonight at halftime. The students celebrated Halloween Wednesday because USD 495 had parent-teacher conferences all day Thursday, and no school on Friday.
LARNED – A Genealogy Workshop, open to the public and co-sponsored by the Fort Larned Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Kansas Society DAR and the Santa Fe Trail Center is scheduled Nov. 15 at the Santa Fe Trail Center, 1349 K-156 Highway, Larned from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
