Jim Forrest, Ruth Kazmaier named Grand Marshals of Christmas Parade

The Larned Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Ambassadors invite you and your family to join them for the 90th annual Christmas Day Parade on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. This year's theme is "Christmas with a Splash." Parade lineup will begin at 10 a.m.; judging of the floats will begin at 10:30 a.m. with four cash prize awards to be given, sponsored by our local banks, First State Bank, Farmers Bank & Trust, American State Bank and Bank of the West. Jim Forrest and Ruth Kazmaier have been selected as this year's Grand Marshals ...

The Diamonds to return for a special Christmas concert

Back by popular demand, The Diamonds will be performing in Larned, a special encore performance on Sunday, Dec, 5, at the Larned Community Center beginning at 7 p.m. Sponsoring this concert is Prairie Arts Unlimited as part of their performing arts series. This is a truly unique concert for The Diamonds as they will be featuring a selection of Christmas favorites.

Hospital auxiliary slates Craft DAy for Dec. 4

The Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor "Craft Day" on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Larned. This year's "Craft Day" promises to be bigger and better, and the community and area will enjoy the variety that the show will offer.

Breakfast served at LHS

To wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving at Larned High School, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes invited both staff and students to enjoy a hot breakfast in the LHS gym on Friday, Nov. 19. Approximately 75 to 100 students and staff enjoyed scrambled eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, and orange juice, which were provided and served by members of the Ministerial Association of Pawnee County. A big thank-you goes out to those pastors who got up early to prepare and to serve this meal.

Quilting Bees meet, discuss upcoming events

Members of the Quilting Bees guild met on Nov. 16. In the absence of the president, Virginia Bauer and Alice Clapsaddle chaired the meeting. Announcements included the Dec. 7 Christmas dinner and party at 6:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church. Members are to bring a dish to share and a gift to exchange. The snowflake fat quarters will be drawn as well as the friendship blocks.

Mary Beth Herrmann advocates for the underserved; wins Heart of Healthcare Award via KU Nursing Scho

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Mary Beth Herrmann, RN, registered nurse, administrator and health officer for the Pawnee County Health Department in Larned, was one of 10 winners selected Friday, Oct. 22, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, Kansas City, Mo., from several hundred Nursing the Heart of Healthcare award nominees.

Larned High wrestlers compete at Pratt regional

PRATT - Two Larned High wrestlers came within one victory of qualifying for the Class 4A state wrestling tournament at Salina. Larned's Hunter Fitzpatrick (106) and Jeremiah Slattery (182) advanced to the consolation finals at the Pratt wrestling regional before losing.
